Hi I am not sure if this is a known problem, at home I am using IE6 with = Windows 98SE where cgiirc works fine, with my local lug, I also use = linux suse 9, and have just installed debian. it seems to work fine with = that too.=20 However at my local library (using Win2k i think) it seems that i can = connect fine, enter text fine, but if I then press enter to submit what = I am typing it does not work. I sent a message to the local lug ( not = got anything back yet) asking for advice and to see if anyone else has = noticed the same problem).=20 I have just been chatting on the lug irc channel and the user there said = there are some issues with IE6 not allowing the use of the enter key to = submit forms, so it could be the way the software is set up, is it = possible to have a button to do the same job, as this could get round = the problem. Thanks for any help Paul Sutton |

Oh well. Just wanted to put it out that there is still a desire for such a feature. On another note, how hard would it be to add a config file flag which would tell the client to actually display JPG and GIF file links, rather than just showing the URL? I've been looking for something that could be used for online demos, where the person giving the demo would be able to have their pictures show up in line with the talk. I remember reading on one of the 'planned features' pages that in the future cgi:irc would support browsers where persistant connections could not be maintained. I have this problem at work - the proxy servers kill our connection after about 15 minutes. I have not seen any further mention of this, and am hoping it has not dropped off the radar as a needed feature. Are there still any plans for supporting this? |

Hi, just found few more bugs. when cgiirc writing tep files in file server when it working with IPv4 = server it writes something like: 21x.19y.12s.s90:6667 193.219.def.abc:38203 irc.server.net nick when i connecting to IPv6 server /server file looks like: aaaa:bbb::6667:7666 :0 irc6.server.net CGI464 i thing it's definetly wrong. and line which fetchs identd.pl when trying to select local and remote = ports its going wrong becouse in IPv6 adress to much ":" ;) we nead to = correct way how to get last digits which ar port numbers: local *TMP; open(TMP, "<$dir$_/server") or next; chomp(my $tmp =3D <TMP>); next unless $tmp =3D~ /:$r$/; chomp($tmp =3D <TMP>); next unless $tmp =3D~ /:$l$/; close TMP; $r and $l he wil be wrong. Hi,
Actualy i am talking about inetd.pl
it's 2 situations. in first the someone contacting IRC:CGI using ipv4 =
and going to irc server which one based on IPv4.
server with CGI:IRC receives ident request from ircd on IPv4 and answers =
it corectly.
the line in inetd.conf looks like:
auth stream tcp nowait.128 www /usr/local/sbin/identd.pl =
identd.pl
the second situation: someone contacting IRC:CGI using ipv4 and going to =
irc server which based on IPv6
server with CGI:IRC receives ident request from ircd on IPv6 and here - =
no ident reply. because identd.pl wont listen on IPv6
I changed inetd.conf to look like that:
auth stream tcp6 nowait.128 www /usr/local/sbin/identd.pl =
identd.pl
but it refuse to listen on IPv6 113 port, then i changed strink like =
this:
auth stream tcp6 nowait.128 www /usr/sbin/tcpd =
/usr/local/sbin/identd.pl
now i got this when isue command netstat -l -n =3Dp|grep 113
tcp 0 0 :::113 :::* =
LISTEN
looks like it listens on port 113 on both IPv4 and IPv6
but with ident request comming from IPv4 irc server all goes ok,
but identd.pl still cant ansver ident requests frop IPv6 based server.
what we nead to change in identd.pl to solve this.

It would be the job of your inetd to do this, if you mean encoded IPs
then IPv6 addresses cannot be compressed into the 9 characters allowed
for usernames on IRC.. |

Hi, can anyone help to rewrite ident script which ships with cgi:irc, to add support for IPv6 (listen on IPv6) Thanks Sirijus |

Thanks David and Julien It now works using IP addresses for the servers - I'll contact the ISP to see if they can do something on the DNS config stuff - I kinow the box is running Sun SOlaris I guess your ISP is using a chroot environment, without knowing the system I can't really say why DNS lookups aren't working, it could be because they have restricted sockets (in which case you'll not get IRC connections working either) or there just might be some files missing (/etc/resolv.conf, maybe /etc/nsswitch.conf). You could always try just using an IP address to connect to so a DNS lookup isn't needed. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. (BTW, tmp should be 1777 (with the sticky bit), not simply 777. Or maybe 755 depending on your setup). Don't forget to change this in cgiirc.conf too. -- Julien |

OK you guys will have to bear with me I know very little perl and this is an ISP hosted shell so the config is somewhat foreign The CGI:IRC is installed in /cgi-bin/irc the images in /html/images I have created a tmp dir under irc so /cgi-bin/irc/tmp and made it 777 I'm a little lost on the comment: "check if the parent directories for this mkdir exist at all. If not, create them" I'm not really sure what directories I should be looking for or making? Also when changing the path in client-perl.cgi what is the path syntax ie from the cgi executing or from the root Ie $PREFIX = "/tmp/cgiirc-"; or $PREFIX = "/cgi-bin/irc/tmp/cgiirc-"; Julien WAJSBERG wrote: > > check if the parent directories for this mkdir exist at all. OK I removed the -T from the first line and that error went away but unfortunately another appeared. Very strange this load fine on my last shell. Hi all Having a problem getting cgi:irc to run Had to uncomment the Begin line for directory change and now this error occurs: Insecure dependency in chdir while running with -T switch at /d4/d8/e-interactiv.net/cgi-bin/irc/nph-irc.cgi line 22. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /d4/d8/e-interactiv.net/cgi-bin/irc/nph-irc.cgi line 22. Any suggestions on how to get around this |

Hi all, I wonder if it is possible to change where messages sent with a /notice are displayed, with CGIIRC they are displayed in the status window, so maybe users don't realize the received a message, in mirc they are displayed in the active channel window. Is it possible to modify this behaviour? Thanks. Regards. Diego. PS: by the way, very useful the option to choose whether to display or not join, part and quit messages with the channel output. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
