Someone asked my again today about DB testing in ColdFusion. This question keeps coming up, so I figured I would put my thoughts on it on my blog... http://www.rbdev.net/devblog/index.php?entry=3Dentry051204-154123 -- Rob Blackburn http://www.rbdev.net |

Hello everyone, I just created and posted a CFUnit badge... http://cfunit.sourceforge.net/involved.php If you have used CFUnit for any of your sites or applications and would like to show off your efforts toward your project's quality and stability, then you can add a CFUnit badge to your site or application. -- Rob Blackburn http://www.rbdev.net |

I was just messing with the CFUNIT-ANT jar file and the instructions on the website to get automatic test builds to execute whenever a resource is modified. I don't know if the following is unique to my setup, and I don't know why it would be, but I had to add a step to your instructions in order to get the build to happen automatically. Your first 5 steps are perfect... 1 Right click the project and click "properties" (or select "Project" > "Properties" in the tool bar) 2 Select "Builders" along the left of the properties window, and then click the "New" button 3 Select "Ant Build", and click "OK" 4 Give the builder a name in the "Name:" field. 5 In the "Buildfile" field, enter the location of your build XML file using the "Browse Workspace..." button However, I needed a step 5.5: 5.5 Go to the Targets Tab, select "Set Targets" by the Auto Build section, then hit OK on the dialog that pops up. This sets the default target (main) for the build.xml file in my coldfusion project. Without this defined the autobuild will fail. And, if you try to manually run the build.xml file it fails with an error "taskdef class net.sourceforge.cfunit.ant.CFUnit cannot be found" Basically, what I'm saying is if your Eclipse install doesn't have a default build target defined then you need to make sure one is or else CFUNIT-ANT won't work for you. Bill -- bil...@gm... http://blog.rawlinson.us If you want Gmail - just ask. |

Ant experts would probably not find this a very big deal, but today I
found the ant parallel command. I found this as I was about to upgrade
CFUnit-Ant to multithreaded, but now I don't need too. Just wrap your
CFUnit tasks in parallel tags and the tasks will run asynchronously.
For example:
<?xml version=3D"1.0"?>
<project name=3D"CFUnit" default=3D"example" basedir=3D".">
=09<taskdef name=3D"CFUnit" classname=3D"net.sourceforge.cfunit.ant.CFUnit"=
/>
=09
=09<property name=3D"domain" value=3D"http://localhost/" />
=09
=09<target name=3D"example">
=09=09<parallel timeout=3D"6000" threadCount=3D"10">
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase1.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase2.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase3.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase4.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase5.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09=09<CFUnit testcase=3D"${domain}tests/TestCase6.cfc"
=09=09=09 verbose=3D"true" />
=09=09</parallel>
=09</target>
</project>
This is especially good if you integrate CFUnit-Ant into CFEclipse so
that they are ran automatically.

I just posted on Sean Corfield's blog site about this, but I think it cool enough to share with everone here too... I just read something that could add a whole new dimension to CFUnit-Ant, a sourceforge project called cruisecontrol: http://cruisecontrol.sourceforge.net I think this could be handy in a team environment working on a large site or application where a change on one part of it might have unexpected effects to another. When I have time I plan on setting up a machine at work that will check to see if any new changes have been committed to our source control system, and if so, run the CFUnit-Ant build files for the different parts of the site. If any failures are detected it will log them and email it to my team. -- Rob Blackburn http://www.rbdev.net |

In response to an email thread in cf...@cf... mailing list, I have created CFUnit-Ant. An Ant extension that allows you to execute CFUnit from within Ant. I have put together a basic how-to for CFUnit-Ant + CFEclipse. http://cfunit.sourceforge.net/help-ant.php Keep in mind that CFUnit-Ant itself is still new and in Alpha release. But please let me know if you have any problems getting these instructions to run in your environment. Thanks -- Rob Blackburn http://www.rbdev.net |

Hi Folks, I'm sending out an FYI that the CFUnit proejct could use some document writ= ers. The project itself is going well, the framework itself is getting close to its first production release, and the download rate is slowly increasing. But the documentation is lagging behind. The project needs to refine its existing help documents, and add a handful of new ones. If anyone is interested in contributing by helping to write these documents, or helping to edit them, please contact me at: sko...@gm... Thanks |

This release is CFUnit's most significant change since the original alpha release. This release includes improved logic for assertEquals() and the addition of assertSame()/assertNotSame(). Test cases also are now self-executing, making writing CFUnit tests easier then ever. You can now browse to a URL such as: http://localhost/myTest.cfc?method=3Dexecute and the TestCase will execute and report the results. This also has two execution modes, basic, and verbose. Basic (the default) will only report success or failure. Verbose mode can be enabled by passing in a "verbose" URL parameter: http://localhost/myTest.cfc?method=3Dexecute&verbose=3Dtrue This will report not only the success or failure, but also the detailed information about the tests. FYI, I just updated the CFUnit package with a new feature. I have added argument 'ignore' to method assertOutputs(). The argument is a collection of regular expressions for text to ignore in both the 'expected' and the 'actual' outputs. SkorPiun |

http://cfunit.sourceforge.net The new web site is about as basic as a site can be, after all everything has to start somewhere. But as basic as it is, it will hopefully help build some more interest in the CFUnit project. A CFUnit logo is also in the works which we can incorporate into the page and other CFUnit material. I will also be looking into more interesting page designs, so feel free to post your suggestions in the CFUnit forums. Thank You, SkorPiun |

This version is just a starting point, but is stable. This version only supports components, and has room to grow. But this will give everyone something to try out and hopefully provide some great suggestions for improvement. =20 Download URL: http://www.sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=3D1= 45385&package_id=3D159891 |
