I see= no technical problems whatsoever using it. Being committed professionally as= a scientific author to using Latex throughout, I am simply spoiled by the e= xtreme perfection Latex produces, notably in connection with mathematical formul= ae. I can type Latex code (including math) as fast as I type simple Ascii text.= So WYSIWYG is pure nonsense for experienced writers... In any Windows software, including Powerpoint, typing mathematical formul= ae is orgastic frustration [h=F6 h=F6, what a word]. > Might I enquire as to why *any* documentation (aside from a Quick > Start Guide) is being included INSIDE of the Linux distributions, > unlike Windows? That's pretty simple, and standard, these days. >=20 This is another point that we did not discuss /before/ packing: i.e. how = we wanted to include the manual and that the CVS KDE-version is outdated!=20 For KDE-Linux, the docbook manual appears /integrated/ into the Celestia = Help menue entry. KDE is a "package tour";-), remember...It is certainly conve= nient, yet personally, I do not share the underlying philosophy. I would strongl= y prefer ONE platform-independent (separate) manual in 'industry standard' format. There is a /separate/ handbook RPM, though. Altogether, we have generated /three/ KDE Linux RPM's: Basic Celestia, textures & handbook. = =20 The conversion of this unfortunate;-) .DOC format after each of Frank's u= pdates to .docbook was and is A LOT of work for Christophe. This is just NOT the= right way...Only to please this "hypothetical dumb user" who is considered unab= le to perform two subsequent clicks instead of one;-).=20 [ Anyway, personally, I never use manuals by "third parties". I prefer re= ading "code" directly (whatever the language;-))...] Bye Fridger |
