I guess I am wondering how will the icon be located?  I am fine using 
the .pm file, if it's supported.  The reason I suggested a .png file 
(which I think should go in contrib/desktopentry/) was so that it might 
be installed in a global area where it's likely to be found by the login 
manager.  I am not familiar with the standards in this area.

If we just specify the .pm file, how will the login manager know where 
to find it?
