Bugs item #502495, was opened at 2002-01-11 12:57 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=103248&aid=502495&group_id=3248 Category: BZFlag Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: undefined (undefined) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: space bar jumping when messaging Initial Comment: version: e4 os: win2k okay, during game play (this cracks me up): i'm messaging someone in a game (we're testing the new e4 release :-) and i notice that i'm uncontrollably jumping. i scratch my head but quickly continue on with the game (not wanting to get shot while thinking; don't think, just shoot ;-). then i message someone again, and while typing spaces i jump. "huh" i think? then i realize: i remapped the space bar to be jump (like many games i've played, so it's just reflex/habit for me). but in the old version (i'm using the same configuration) the space bar was only registered as a "space" in the message window, not as a "jump" in game play. so essentially, in the e2 version whenever messaging, the keyboard was disabled (in regards to game play / tank action), but in e4 the alpha(numeric?) keys are disabled, but not the space bar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: undefined (undefined) Date: 2002-01-12 13:11 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=16258 that works fine for when a user uses the default key-bindings of "jump = tab", but for the majority of possible key-bindings for jumping (alphanumeric keys and punctuation), this produces undesirable behavior while messaging (jumping while messaging; though i'm sure it gives other players a good laugh should they notice it ;-). anyways, still something that i would like to see addressed, but i am very grateful for the development of bzflag and am happy sticking with e2 right now, and, if i feel compelled to upgrade in the future, i can always remap jump to some infrequently used puntuation key located near the right-hand home-row (as i play with my left hand on the mouse and my right hand on the right-hand home row keys). thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: undefined (undefined) Date: 2002-01-12 13:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=16258 that works fine for when a user uses the default key-bindings of "jump = tab", but for the majority of possible key-bindings for jumping (alphanumeric keys and punctuation), this produces undesirable behavior while messaging (jumping while messaging; This was definitely intentional. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=103248&aid=502495&group_id=3248 |
