Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Anders Kaseorg (anders1) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Brightness problems on Radeon M9 with ATI's fglrx drivers Initial Comment: I have a laptop running Fedora Core 1 Linux, with ATI's fglrx drivers (3.2.8) for my Radeon M9, and BZFlag 1.9.9.20031118. The default brightness setting was way too low, so I went into options and turned it up. This worked. (BTW -- perhaps it should default to gamma 2.2 for standard PC monitors?) After exiting bzflag, though, the brightness was not reset and the display was too bright. I had to fix this with fglrx_xgamma -gamma 1.0; (unfortunately, regular xgamma doesn't work with these drivers...). I started bzflag again, and the brightness was back to the default low setting, although the slider in options was where I had left it. Moving it left once and right once restored my higher setting. Of course, exiting again had the same problem as before. I'm currently working around this with a shell script wrapper that calls fglrx_xgamma -gamma 2.2; bzflag $*; fglrx_xgamma -1.0. This may be a problem with ATI's drivers and not bzflag, but I think someone here will be able to tell for sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Jeff Myers (jeffm2501) Date: 2007-08-30 14:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=415400 Originator: NO technically a driver problem ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kent Johnson (bzflagwiz) Date: 2004-01-12 12:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=617680 I have almost this exact same problem on WinXP SP1a with Radeon All-In-Wonder 7500 running latest Catalyst 3.10 drivers. Every time I start BZFlag I have to move the brightness slider either left or right and then back again to make the brightness correct. The only difference is that upon exiting BZFlag my system brightness is returned to normal without any intervention. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=103248&aid=851865&group_id=3248 |
