Hi All,
I'm a newbie to BFL-CAD (and open source in general). I recently downloaded/installed version 7.26.0 but I'm having issues with getting MGED to run. When I run MGED, a DOS window pops up with the disclaimer. Then a windows window opens with the following message:
:mged.exe - Entry Point Not Found
:
:The procedure entry point K32GetMappedFileNameA could not be located in the dynamic link library :KERNEL#@.dll.
Running windows vista (yeah... I know) SP2. on a Toshiba Satellite A300 (64bit) laptop.
Please help
Claude
Claude, I don't think anyone else has experienced or at least reported this issue. Searching on that error message, I found this: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/vcblog/2009/08/27/windows-sdk-v7-0v7-0a-incompatibility-workaround/
That site indicates that the problem is we compiled on a version of Windows newer than you are using. So we either need to change our compilation settings or you need to compile from source (both easy).
Thanks for looking into this Sean. I read the article but unfortunately, that is waaaaaay over my head. Please keep in mind that I am a mechanical engineer with limited (read "no") programming skills. I can install/configure software, even enter stuff on a command prompt if provided with some guidance but that's about where my skills end. Sounds like I either need to upgrade to windows 7 or find different software. I guess getting with the times is not so bad. Thanks again for the speedy response.
Or "wait" .. that article has a pointer for us to try a fix. We'll be pushing out release 7.26.2 within the next two weeks, so we can try it. If you would test it out for us, that would be extremely helpful.
That would be great! More than willing to help where I can just not sure I want to get into programing. Looking to use this for a few product ideas that have been rattling around in my head for the last few years. Finally getting some time to put pen to paper so to speak.
