I thought I'd mention that the surface/surface intersection work and subsequent assembly into boundary representations is essentially where you left it at the end of the previous project, and is very definitely still a high priority need. If you would like to submit a GSoC proposal to complete that work, I'd suggest starting by reviewing the steps you were taking toward the end of your previous project - once the problem is back "in context" map out how you would continue.
