Cropped pages slightly too large

I always use "A S" to set the size of all pages. Then, I enter "210 297" for A4. The resulting document however has slightly larger dimensions: 211 × 299 mm in my case.
Why is this? Is there a boundary setting somewhere?
I also have the impression that the selection frame is slightly too large already. It usually does not coincide with the page border of scanned images.
After looking more in detail, its even weirder: In a four-page document that I cropped to "210 297" for all pages, the first page is 215x304 and the remaining are 211x299.
I have had a similar problem. It is obvious when looking at the pdf 2 pages at a time in a reader like SumatraPDF or Acrobat - you can see the pages are different heights. Any suggestions welcome!
Have you tried selecting both rectangles and then choosing 'Align selected rectangles'.
That seems to work for me.
Yes, I've tried that. It doesn't work on all pdfs. Regardless, when inputting the size directly, there shouldn't be a difference between input and output.
