I've installed BORG-1.7.9 on a desktop and a laptop with Linux Mint Debian for simple ToDos.
On the desktop it's fine. However on the laptop alternate ToDo lines are black and unreadable until I hover over an individual black line, when it turns dark blue and readable - but of course I can't see the whole list at a glance.
I've tried importing the zip file from the desktop to the laptop - that doesn't change the ToDo list but just duplicates the items on the Month calendar.
I've now tried uninstalling and re-installing Borg on the laptop - it makes no difference and it seems impossible to get rid of the screwed up installation.
So I need help with three problems:
(1) how to get rid of the alternate black foreground lines in the ToDo list
(2) how to get back to a clean installation of BORG
(3) how to synchronise my laptop with the desktop

The Todo lines are probably a look and feel problem. I'm surprised that the default look and feel would have any dark elements. Are you running a dark linux theme? Did you change the BORG look and feel? It should be all white/light blue by default.
To fix this, try changing the Borg look and feel to com.jgoodies.looks.plastic.PlasticXPLookAndFeel or either of the javax.swing look and feels from the appearance options and then restart. Also, check that the Table Stripe Color is set to a light color under the User Color Scheme Options. If that doesn't work, then let me know if you are KDE or GNOME or something else and what your desktop theme is.
To delete your data on linux, shut down Borg, then "rm -rf ~/.borg_db" - assuming you didn't change the default DB folder, which is ~/.borg_db
To sync across multiple computers, they need to share the same DB folder. I have my BORG DB folder in a DropBox folder that is synced to all of my machines. Another option, which I used to do is to put the BORG DB on a USB stick that I carried. I found that using an SD card, if your machines are so equipped, is even more convenient than a USB stick.
If you sync using a USB stick or SD card, then on each machine, use the auto-backup option to write backups to the machine's local hard drive - not the portable drive. Portable driver get lost easily and also fail easily.

I completely removed Borg from my laptop, the .borg* folders; re-installed from the installer and checked the look and feel; then imported the zip file from my desktop.
All looked fine; the ToDo list was all visible, the same as on the desktop.
However after logging out and logging back in and restarting Borg the black lines on the ToDo list were back. Changing the Table Strip Colour to a light colour didn't change anything.
I'm running Linux Mint Debian (update 7) with Cinnamon.
The desktop theme is the default LMDE theme.

I shut down the laptop and re-booted.
On restarting Borg the ToDo list appeared with alternate lines in pink (the Table Stripe colour) - so perfectly visible.
Many thanks again!
