I usually rip my CDs in FLAC and then I move the encoded folder to the FLAC folder, then I browse to it to select it and then encode to MP3, and then move the encoded folder to the MP3 folder. It's a lot of steps!
Would it be possible to change the GUI to allow to encode current opened tracks (from CD or what ever is currently opened) into several encoding formats (2 or more) in once, each format having a default output folder?
And be able to keep this default behaviour for next time?

My request is similar. I have a nested folder structure with .wav, .cue files and .m3u files. I would like to simply chose the root folder, like "music" and have fre:ac duplicate the exact nested folder structure and filenames of the .wav files, thus converting many CD's at once.

fre:ac can already recreate an existing folder structure using the <directory> pattern for output filenames. Please see the "How to use output file name patterns in fre:ac?" guide in the manual (choose Help->Help topics->How to... from the fre:ac menu).</directory>
However, it will not create .cue files and playlists for each individual folder, only for the output as a whole.
Implementing per-folder .cue and playlist support is on my list, though. It has been requested in ticket 57, so I'll close this ticket and will give status updates there.
The originally requested functionality now works with fre:ac 20150725. It allows changing the configuration while a conversion is running and to schedule another conversion using a different output format.
To keep the settings for both formats for next time, please create separate configurations in the config dialog - one for FLAC and one for MP3. You can then easily switch to the MP3 configuration while a conversion to FLAC is active and schedule the MP3 conversion process.
You'll probably want to disable the "Remove encoded tracks from joblist" option in the configuration dialog for this to work best.
The next snapshot will support a multi-encoder component where you can select multiple output format that will be created in one conversion process.
This should further simplify the procedure.
This ticket will be closed two weeks after the next snapshot release.
