I use desktop link to file
C:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\boa-constructor\Boa.pyw
with keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-B ;-)

together with the BOAConstructor (and wxPython, of course. On Windows) 
Now: HOW CAN I START this smart IDE? No icon, bin folder, exe file... 
Hundreds of .py and .pyc in the LIB. And NO ONE WORD ABOUT THIS IN THE 
DOCS!!!?

This means that your wxPython is not installed, not correctly installed, 
or not installed in the Python version you use with Boa.

Sorry, I don't know Linux to help much in how to correct this.

[Boa Constr] Boa Installation Issues

Mario,

I am going to be real stupid, but which bloody log do you want and where
is it? I have logs for everything except for the total number of
electrons that run through the computer. The syslog, user log, and
others I looked at did not have anything in them regarding Boa except
that it was installed.

Mandriva package.

I am new to Boa and have had the devil of the time trying to get it to
install. Using Mandriva 2006, with Boa 0.4.4. Program installs without
errors but will not start. When starting from console, I get the error:
line 225, no wx. I have Python 2.4.1 installed and have been toying with
ERIC3 without any difficulties. Suggestions?

[Boa Constr] Boa Constructor Plug-in for Matplotlib information

An additional information on plug-in
There are 3 pictures as examples and source code of Frame.py (see below)
which was created by Boa constructor.

One picture is Boa constructor design time picture. Rectangles are my plot
canvas added by pressing a button in Boa toolbar (all the same as if you
want to add a button, panel, etc in Boa constructor). I put them in
flexgridsizer.=20

The second one is run time picture after pressing button with plot label.
Last one just a simple sample but without sizer.

I also sent you Frame1.py file created by Boa constructor (see below).

As you can see I added manually only two lines of codes in the beginning:

and OnButon1Button(=E2=80=A6) body. It is self explainable.=20

[Boa Constr] Designer errors with StaticBoxSizers [again]

This message follows my previous one about the StaticBoxSizers and tries to
explain how I understand the problem.

The instanciation code of a StaticBoxSizer needs at least the box parameter,
which must be a StaticBox instance.
So when the boa designer tries to eval the args of the constructor line (
Views.InspectableViews.InspectableObjectView.setupArgs), it tries to find
the box param value in the globals and locals dictionaries: in this case '
self.staticBox1'.
The localsDct passed to PaletteMapping.evalCtrl contains a 'self' key, which
value is an instance of the Models.wxPythonEditorModels._your_frame_attrs_
class.
At the time when the expression 'self.staticBox1' is evaluated, this
instance contains no 'staticBox1' attribute, which is, I think, why the
exception is raised.

In boa code, I found only two methods where _your_frame_attrs_ instances are
created (both in Models.wxPythonEditorModels.BaseFrameModel class):

   - readSpecialAttrs
   - readCustomClasses

I don't know yet which instance is used as localsDct, nor how I can fix it
the best way.

Any idea ?

Thanks for the reply.

I suppose I was expecting the behaviour that I see in tortoisesvn,
where you check out into a folder, that folder then has the additional
svn oriented capabilities and the .svn folder in the working folder is
for all intents hidden.

That is great news!

wxWidgets doesn't seem to have a es_PE translation yet,
I assume it uses the es translation for you.

So I'm not sure if we should add it as es or es_PE in Boa.
As es it will be used by all 20 spanish variations,
in es_PE it with only be used for wx.LANGUAGE_SPANISH_PERU.
Comments anyone?

Yes, this is the only SVN action from the filesystem view.

It is the correct behaviour, this is the way CVS support also works
in Boa. When you enter a source control directory you get a complete
source control look on all those files, and navigation is natural
as you automatically stay inside the 'source contol' view
(by traversing folders).

I did check in a small fix yesterday that corrects the svn folder
jump to parent folder action. If you moved up in an svn folder you
went back into the file view instead of going to the parent svn folder.
Maybe this was what was bothering you.

I've sorted this out in private mail with Mario.

For wxGTK Boa users, to activate the coloured sizer box drawing
in the Designer, please turn on the following settings:
Preferences->Platform specific->Designer->
   drawDesignerGrid
   drawDesignerGridForSubWindows

I will fix this so sizer drawing either has it's own preference
setting or is always on.

is completely unrelated to the sizer issue.

Boa runs a socket server in a thread in the background which
can accept filenames to open in the IDE.

It looks like as Boa shut down the socket select call was interrupted.

I suppose I can catch and swallow such exceptions there but
it hasn't happened with me yet and the error is quite harmless.

[Boa Constr] German translation

Hi all,

It would be good if a German native speaker (not just a Swiss German) 
could have a look at what I have done so far.  As I don't use any German 
computer programs there are quit a few terms I am not sure about and 
there is still some translation to be done.

I won't touch it for about 2 or 3 weeks as I am away for a week and then 
I need to get my next version out.
