I dont have the contracts complete yet. My attorney is taking a while to do it. But he does do all my work free so I can only sit and wait cant bitch much. However, I have told you that You will retain ownership of the site. In fact you can license your design under GPL or something of that nature that then I have to give you credit on usage and everything else. It seems that you have forgotten that right now this is an open source project and that normally means on a limited budget., It also means that people just submit code and other data on good faith and for the advancement of technology. I understand you wanting to protect yourself if the company gets profitable. But who is to say it is. Why cant you do what everyone else does in the open source industry and just submit your work. I dont mean to be rude or anything of that nature. But If i get a contract to you I have to get a contract to everyone else. I am starting to get upset with the current situation of no one really doing anything that I have seen. Nick has and he submits stuff to me when he can and I applaud him. It seems like no one really is commited to the project. If this is the case maybe I need to just start over with a team that will help. I dont know, I know I have not gotten design documents done and Have not done much to help anyone do anything because I have been so busy. But I cant do it all by myself i need everyone's input. I have news. We have looked for the meaning of your last name; the name Jezorek means little tongue. I also want to know when you would like to have the designs sent to you. I need to have the contracts signed by you and a witness; these requests are very usual. If I give you the designs and you decide to use it I am lose my rights to the design. So I need to have it stated within the contract what the rate of compensation will be. I will be satisfied with the going rate paid in instalments if you feel that that is the only way you can afford it. However we must talk about what the going rate is. This is gong to be a corporate site; a site that that has been designed with the EU in mind. Ease of use, colour arrangement, and many other facets has been explored. This usually costs quite a bit of money. I am not going to charge you an arm and a leg; however, I would like to know, precisely, what you feel is fair. Hello, I finally got my ISP to give me my old E-mail back. I also should be able to scan the work in on Saturday. I located the printed copy of the survey I gave you, and I do believe that the first layout is pretty ready to show you. I was wondering why you didn't contact me when I gave you the info about what happened. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Don't know about Michael Marshall. I do not like the examples that he submitted. However it is up to you who are picked. I just don't think that he has enough design sense as of yet. Or perhaps he doesn't know how to use the programs to there full potential. As well he does not know how to use illustrator 9 or Photoshop, as he had originally stated. I think that if he joins it will be a learning experience for him and I have nothing against that. I have nothing against helping him, and grabbing ideas, even if he is unable to help me cultivate them. However I would prefer someone with just a little more experience. I mean if he wants I can always just show him were he can get free versions. However I don't know if your willing to deal with that type of a learning curve. I have nothing against collaborating with other designers, and have nothing against helping new ones. However in regards to your project, I want to be able to get help, instead of having to answer questions. This is your call. I just want to know your decision, before I go announcing mine. He stated that he knows how to use other types of programs, did you want to see if he is willing to submit more examples before the decision is made? I don't profess to be the best designer, but those examples were brutal. I need to go to a meeting so I will not be able to respond for a few hours. I am still working on a few drafts of one of the ides I had mentioned for the logo. At this point they are only contrasted examples of colour, you can play with it as you would like, I should be ready to show it to you tomorrow. I have other ideas as well so if you don't like it, I can create other things. As well, I have still yet to receive anything from the graphics guys. However they could be at work. I am just lucky I work freelance now. ANTHONY R PACE ar...@bl... 416-451-8181 -----Original Message----- From: blu...@li... Typo, "Only if profit margins are acceptable to their standards". As well, as I had stated, that is not the only fuel, they also invest o the potential that the company has. I really wouldn't worry to much with how much money is made at the start just as long as we have enough capital (savings) to show that there is a high factor for potential. By going public, I mean by allowing people to invest in us on national/ international markets. I was actually going to work for her about two years ago. I got something called a CSC (Canadian Securities course), certificate which enables me to be a financial analyst, but I thought better of it, because I was making more money with the company I was at. Subject: RE: [Bluelinux-work] Re: Seeking graphic designer to join a small team Well actually it is a British Company. They have offices around the world, however the HQ is in Canada. They are interested in investing only if profit margins are exemptible their standards. We would have to have proven ability, profit, and statistics to back it all up. As well as marketing plans for the future, and multiple other things that they will need in order to make a decision on the company. This is also a ways down the road. I am only telling you now because it is not only a possibility but also a probability. I have the connection in the company, which is actually a family friend. I also want to state that she will invest only once we have plans to go public, and if we can guarantee them some portion of control in the way things are handled. Well actually it is a British Company. I also want to make it clear to you though that I do not want to burn this bridge. So it must be gaining profit, and we must compile thousands of stats, before we take it to her. She is a senior broker, about to become partner. This will be easy as long as everything is in place before we approach her. I am interested in VC it would be nice to be able to put all my efforts f= ull time into this project and still live. As well as offices , advertising a= nd things of this nature. It is hard to get still. There is one thing I can PROMISE that will come up if a company is going to drop money on us. We will have to hire a CEO that has experience in being a CEO that is just o= ne thing out of the many that they would probably want. I am working on contracts for those that want them. My attorney and I are colaborating on this. The university deal sounds good. We can provide it if they want it I have= no doubts about this. As far as the graphics guys hopefully they will work out. As far as showing me graphics. I am an ex designer and I still design at = my current "job" when I have to so you can view me as a peer I know how graphics design goes. So dont worry about that. I was adopted. Hi Matt. You had once stated to me that you would not be opposed to gaining venture capital. Well I think that I might have found a way to get a lot of investors really interested in what you have to say. I have a friend that is a VP for Scotia McLeod, which is an investment/trading firm. I have stated what had been taking place, and she stated that once contracts have been established, and production is on it's way she would love to talk to us. She also stated that we would need to prove profitable revenue possibilities. We would back this up with statistics once the first project has been released. The investment capital would allow you to form offices as well as advertising campaigns. Once you start turning a profit, I would be able to assist you myself with the start up fees in regards to going public, as long as there are clear-cut contracts established. I am very interested in establishing a relationship that will last. I have also been dealing with my University in regards to the formation of a new internal system that would be customizable to there needs. Once they have proof that blue Linux can actually produce something that is secure and easy to use, they would be thrilled to employ us. However they stated the only reason that they would consider is because I am a student there. They would prefer if they could state that it had student involvement, so it does not appear that they do not trust there computer science department. They are also able to pay quite a bit, but they are truly professional in regards to heckling. It is a university after all. However I do realize that this is quite a way down the line, and so do they. I have also started the creation of a few graphics. I figure that I might as well let you see my work, because I am going to have to show you somewhere down the line. The first idea does involve a penguin, but it is in contrasted black and white to provide a feel of modernism, as well as to allow me to add or change colour at a moments notice. I always design in black and white first to test the contrast. Once I am done creating the black and white I will put it into colour. I am a little uncomfortable with showing another department, mainly you, examples of my work unless individuals within my own department have collectively critiqued them and provided feedback. However, you need a site, and I need a portfolio, and we both want to get this done as soon as possible. I have contacted the 3 designers that you told me to get in touch with, and I have had a response from 2 of them. However, they have not responded to my second E-mail though. I stated that I don't care if they have a lot of design experience, and that I do not care if they are professional, just as long as they have some artistic talent, as well as the ability to work with ideas that are established, as well as to provide input in the creation of new ones. I was also wondering, due to my fiancée reading my Email when I left the room for a moment, if your name is Polish. Is it? She is polish her self, and stated that it looked like a Polish name, but the spelling seemed to be wrong, due to the USA 101 keyboard that is the standard in North America. If you consider that to be too personal a question, I would understand, and I am sorry if it offends you. I am just curious to know if she is right.
