Using flatpak version. This message shows up when opening the preferences window, "invalid/outdated textstyle none with length 5 (should be 6)", but not sure if relevant to this issue.
On OpenSuse (Install using zypper and flatpack) I have the same problem.
I open Bluefish from the konsole and I get a lot of GTK-warnings, around 10. There all Theme parsing error's. Opening the preferences tab give the following error:
(bluefish:14102): Gtk-WARNING **: 10:48:37.077: Theme parsing error: <data>:6:26: The style property GtkWidget:focus-padding is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. It will be removed in a future version

Closing give the following error:
(bluefish:14102): Gtk-WARNING **: 10:49:21.114: Theme parsing error: <data>:1:42: '-gtk-cursor-aspect-ratio' is not a valid property name

Also Table wizard (and others) give by closing a error and let Bluefish crash

where did you download this flatpak version? Does it happen every time?
I downloaded the flatpak version from the fedora software application. It happens every time.
What version of Fedora are you using? If you uninstall the flatpak version and install the RPM package can you reproduce the same issue?
I'm using Fedora 37. This issue does not occur with the RPM version, only flatpak.
What version of Bluefish is in the flatpak, and which in the RPM?
Both versions are 2.2.12.

this is now fixed in svn, and will be part of the upcoming bluefish 2.2.14 release
