Hi Team,

We are observing an issue with the latest version of Bluefish (v2.4.0), where it is not creating an entry in Add/Remove Programs (ARP).

When installing v2.4.0 over v2.2.13, only the older version is displayed in Programs and Features.

Additionally, we noticed that the main installation directory is created under Program Files, while shortcuts and some registry entries are created at the user level. There is no corresponding uninstall entry in the user-level registry hive either.

Could you please confirm whether this behavior is expected, or advise on how the application should be properly registered in ARP and made available for all users?

Thanks

The windows installer is created with very little windows knowledge. It works but it probably does lots of things in a wrong way. If you can help which NSIS settings should be changed, please suggest them (NSIS is the installer that Bluefish uses).

      Dear Oli,

I tested on 2 virtual machines, win7 and win10 ltsc and I confirm that I
can see the desktop icon, I can see the entry in Start Menu, the program
starts and works as expected but there are no entries in the add/remove
programs. I made 2 screenshots for this, which i send attached to this
message. The installations were on windows machines without previous
versions of Bluefish installed, so I assume this will happen adding on to
the problem if if it was installation over previous versions in windows OS.
I too don't use windows. These virtual machines are just for testing and I
keep a few programs for my GSM phones. I can't test on windows 11, I have
old computer, not suitable for windows 11. If you need special logs from
the machines please let me know in details.

      Best regards,
      Tasos

PS: Tonight I will test the 4.2.1 version but I was thinking to give it a
hold until you let me know if you need special logs

I've created a new 2.4.1 installer, at the same location, that adds (I think) the required registry key to make that work. Can you test again?
