The current Makefiles install blitz-uninstalled.pc, and, unfortunately, pkg-config prefers the uninstalled versions of packages. It's all OK until you delete the build directory, then it becomes a problem.

Simply removing blitz-uninstalled.pc from the pkgconfig_DATA line fixes it.
