I would like to be put in touch with developers working on LGVX5500 phone. I personally own one and would like to work to improve any and all features as it relates to BitPim. I know that support was recently added in version 1.0.7 and I have it running under various operating systems via bluetooth and usb cable modem. My area of interest is Call History and SMS which I don't believe are working at this time and are being developed. I would like to help since I have a vested interest in it's success. Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards, Steve McDaniel |

I am using the stock python2.5 to build under Snow Leopard. I remember having some py2app problems after I updated the requirement to 0.4.3. I think the problem was that 0.4.3 was still identifying itself as 0.4.2. I had to modify the py2app source to give the correct version. -Nathan On Mar 11, 2010, at 5:12 PM, Sean Patrick Burke wrote: > Nathan - > The build crashes and dies on the py2app sanity check. Nathan - The build crashes and dies on the py2app sanity check. This isn't the first time I have had a problem with this portion of the build script, but for posterity I'll describe the issue. I have two partitions on my drive: a leopard partition and a snow leopard partition. The former has all of the proper dependencies for a bitpim build, including py2app 0.4.3. The latter is my day to day partition and has py2app 0.4.2 on it. For some reason, makedist is detecting the snow leopard copy of py2app before the framework copy. Are you building with a macports copy of python, or a stock copy? s -- Sean Patrick Burke Full time law student, part time developer http://www.bitpim.org On Mar 11, 2010, at 12:36 PM, Nathan Hjelm wrote: > Yup, the last commit I made to the libusb-0.1 source tree was before > the release of Snow Leopard (which broke libusb-0.1). > > The mac build scripts and the usb module are good to go. Yup, the last commit I made to the libusb-0.1 source tree was before the release of Snow Leopard (which broke libusb-0.1). The mac build scripts and the usb module are good to go. Some notes on libusb-1.0 support for Mac: - If users/developers want to run or build Bitpim from source they will need to install libusb-1.0 into /opt/local. This is the default location if for installation in macports. - Those using an app will not need to install libusb-1.0 as it is already contained inside the app. BTW, I updated Bitpim's Linux distro files (debian, redhat, etc) to require libusb 1.0.6. -Nathan On Mar 10, 2010, at 8:39 PM, Joe Pham wrote: > We're getting ready to add BitPim support to libusb 1.0 and I'd like to get feedback from Linux and Mac users and determine if their systems still have libusb 0.1 installed by default (so we would need to have support to both versions.) > > Thanks, > > -Joe Pham > > ____________________________________________________________ > Diet Help > Cheap Diet Help Tips. We're getting ready to add BitPim support to libusb 1.0 and I'd like to get feedback from Linux and Mac users and determine if their systems still have libusb 0.1 installed by default (so we would need to have support to both versions.) Hello, Importing and exporting of groups on the LG VX-5500 doesn't work correctly (probably just because it hasn't been done yet) and I'm interested in helping fix the problem. Does anyone have any pointers to help me get started? I'm already setup to develop using Python per the directions on the bitpim developer page. Here is what I know already based on troubleshooting: 1) Having empty groups in your phone creates an exception when important contacts. 2) The category for contacts added to a group on the phone is always just blank. 3) The category for contacts without a group is always a strange unicode symbol such as 0300 that shows up as a little square in bitpim. 4) If you upload contacts from BitPim that have groups to your phone, the groups won't show up. There will be one random empty group created though with 3 or 4 chinese characters for the name. All of the contacts will show "No Group", but none of them will be listed in any groups under the "Groups" menu including "No Group". 5) If you import contacts from your phone that had been previously uploaded from bitpim, the groups will be maintained (even though they didn't show up on the phone). This is only true of the first 21 groups though and I've found at least one example where the name was messed up slightly. Anyhow, I'm not sure if any of that helps, but it seems like the pbgroup.dat file has been changed slightly or something. I'm not entirely sure how to best start tracking down the issue though. I appreciate any pointers you all may have. Thanks. - Daniel |

Hi all, I would have created a trouble report, but that gave me an error too (just said it failed to create one, no explanation), so here's my description and exception log: I was trying to import my call history on my LG 9700. It hasn't worked for several versions- I always get this same error. Everything else works great! I have my phone set to read only. If you need any more info, please let me know. From: Pat Simmons [mailto:psi...@ta...] Sent: Thursday, January 14, 2010 11:28 AM To: bit...@li... Subject: BitPim doesnot transfer calendar data to phone. I am using Windows Vista 64 bit home Premium; my phone is Verizon LG enV2 or VX9100. I just downloaded the newest version of BitPim 1.07. BitPim Test Release 1.0.7.20100117. Hi, Just reporting this failure. I just installed the official 1.0.7 release of BitPim on my Windows 7 Enterprise (32-bit) laptop. The install (as 'administrator') completed without error. However trying to start BitPim results in a pop-up box titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" whose contents show "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." There is only an "OK" box to click. I assume this may be some DLL related problem but I don't know where any other logging info may be. Let me know if I can provide any other useful information to help resolve this. Thanks, Shawn -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Unable-to-start-BitPim-1.0.7-official-on-Windows-7-Enterprise-32-bit-tp27327897p27327897.html Sent from the Bitpim - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

To whom it may concern, I recently found your program "Bitpim" off of the site www.hacktherazr.com. I was trying to upload ringtones onto my phone using your program with a tutorial from hacktherazr when I noticed that my phone was not being detected. I've gone though many tasks to figure out why and I've come up empty every time. I changed from auto detect to COM3 like suggested, I have all proper drivers for my phone installed, upon phone detection (with my computer) it recognized my phone as the V3m so that is the phone I set for Bitpim, however, I cannot get Bitpim to "detect" my phone. The only thing I can do is get wallpapers from my phone to my computer, nothing else. How do I go about fixing all this? What information would you need and how would I find it? Thank you and I hope you can help. Hahahaha, nice catch. Still can't believe anyone would use such a format string (no offense to whomever committed the code in question). Anyway, I will not try to figure out why. I will just fix it. -Nathan On Jan 7, 2010, at 4:00 AM, Greg Hewgill wrote: > I found a year 2010 bug in your software via Google Code Search (see > http://ghewgill.livejournal.com/140515.html). Attached is a working (on 10.6.2 anyway) prototype of native/usb1 (and modifications -- not yet ready to be committed-- to usbscan.py and commport.py). Please give the new module a try. Note that the library path is hardcoded for macos (/opt/local/lib/libusb-1.0.dylib) and will need to be updated to support linux/bsd. The module uses ctypes instead of SWIG because I felt this approach would be cleaner and easier to maintain. Any comments on this approach? Joe, do you have any comments? |

A move to libusb 1.0 would help on the mac side as well. -- Sean Patrick Burke Full time law student, part time developer http://www.bitpim.org On Jan 13, 2010, at 2:06 PM, Aaron M.
