The octane may be using the LG embedded database management system (LGeDBMS) like the LG lotus (and who knows what else). It looks pretty complex, I poked at it a bit but never got anywhere with it. Is there an update to Bitpim proposed soon to include the LG Octane VN530? I have attempted to view files via filesystem using the LG Voyager setting as recommended by another post but the SMS file indicates it's empty. I know I have messages there. |

The mail archive could use a search function. Or maybe I'm not seeing it. How strict are the requirements? It says you must use Unicode version wxPython 2.8.8.1. But debian is now running 2.8.10.1 and is the Unicode version. Seems a waste to downgrade if not necessary. I have a Sanyo SCP-3810. Latest debian package for Bitpim sees it and communicates with it, but doesn't find it. This phone does work fully in Datapilot, from what I read. Therefore it must be doable in Linux/Win. I will probably get Datapilot, as I have important pictures I really want to download. Once I have them, I would be more than happy to make this phone work in bitpim. So, I wonder if the needed software listed on the dev pages is up to date. It seems odd to have a dev environment older than stable debian. Thanks, Brian |

I just bought a new computer, using Win7 64 bit. I can't get Bitpim to detect my phone. I have a bluetooth dongle, drivers in place, Windows recognizes the phone (it shows up under 'devices"). Shows as using COM3 and COM4. Bitpim sees these ports too, and says they're available, but doesn't detect the phone. It worked on my old computer (XP) with both BT and the USB cable. Any idea what I should try next? |

I don't want to waste any major developers' time, so a short answer will suffice if you have anything to say at all. Thanks for in advance (and for all the work you've already done). I'm doing some code dev work to salvage my contacts from my env Touch that I took a swim with it. If you didn't know already, BitPim has some problems getting the phonebook from this model. See http://cellphoneforums.net/lg-env/t298673-problem-using-bitpim-env-touch-5.html After drying off my phone the screen didn't work but I managed to get the entire file system off of the phone via BitPim. So now I'm trying to recover the phone numbers from the pbfile and pnfile. I've been studying the source off and on for a few days, and am ready to tinker but get stuck pretty much right away when I try to import the com_lgvx1100 to my own source file. When trying to step through com_lgvx1100, I get this error during the Profile class: Exception exceptions.AttributeError: "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'print_exc'" in <bound method Rect.<lambda> of wx.Rect(-1, -1, -1, -1)> ignored I wonder if this has to do with my setup (Eclipse + Pydev on Windows 7) or because I'm not using the class correctly (e.g. through the GUI or some kind of debug mode). I was going to try to set things up in Ubuntu and see if I had any better luck. P.S. If you really want to know, Verizon admitted that my Backup Assistant ran the week before I broke my phone but according to them running BA on the Razr I used to replace my phone overwrote my contacts on my online account. Go figure. |

Hello All, I recently purchased a Motorola VE440, and I want it supported by BitPim. It isn't. So maybe I have to do it myself. I am thinking about purchasing this software: http://www.datapilot.com/phonesupport/en_US/Metro%20PCS/Motorola/2496/VE440/ and reverse-engineering the data format and protocols for talking to the phone. Any advice? Any recommendations? Which source code should I start reading first in order to understand BitPim and be able to extend it? I've already learned that with the memory module installed in the phone, only the memory module is visible on the USB interface. So perhaps, it is necessary to remove the memory module before the calendar and phonebook can be downloaded/uploaded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here are some notes I took when first playing with the phone: When memory card is installed, and formatted, then *only* the memory card USB endpoints are available. The non-memory card endpoints are: 0x81, 0x82, 0x02. They are all "Vendor Specific" Class, Subclass, and Protocol. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ And here are the results of $(lsusb -v) on GNU/Linux withOUT a microSD memory card: Bus 006 Device 003: ID 22b8:2d44 Motorola PCS Device Descriptor: bLength 18 bDescriptorType 1 bcdUSB 1.10 bDeviceClass 255 Vendor Specific Class bDeviceSubClass 255 Vendor Specific Subclass bDeviceProtocol 0 bMaxPacketSize0 64 idVendor 0x22b8 Motorola PCS idProduct 0x2d44 bcdDevice 0.02 iManufacturer 1 iProduct 2 iSerial 0 bNumConfigurations 1 Configuration Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 2 wTotalLength 62 bNumInterfaces 2 bConfigurationValue 1 iConfiguration 0 bmAttributes 0xc0 Self Powered MaxPower 500mA Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber 0 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 3 bInterfaceClass 255 Vendor Specific Class bInterfaceSubClass 255 Vendor Specific Subclass bInterfaceProtocol 255 Vendor Specific Protocol iInterface 3 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x81 EP 1 IN bmAttributes 3 Transfer Type Interrupt Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0010 1x 16 bytes bInterval 128 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x82 EP 2 IN bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x02 EP 2 OUT bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber 1 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 2 bInterfaceClass 255 Vendor Specific Class bInterfaceSubClass 255 Vendor Specific Subclass bInterfaceProtocol 255 Vendor Specific Protocol iInterface 3 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x84 EP 4 IN bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x04 EP 4 OUT bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Device Status: 0x0000 (Bus Powered) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ And here are the results of $(lsusb -v) on GNU/Linux WITH a microSD memory card: Bus 006 Device 007: ID 22b8:2d45 Motorola PCS Device Descriptor: bLength 18 bDescriptorType 1 bcdUSB 1.10 bDeviceClass 0 (Defined at Interface level) bDeviceSubClass 0 bDeviceProtocol 0 bMaxPacketSize0 64 idVendor 0x22b8 Motorola PCS idProduct 0x2d45 bcdDevice 0.00 iManufacturer 1 iProduct 2 iSerial 3 bNumConfigurations 1 Configuration Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 2 wTotalLength 32 bNumInterfaces 1 bConfigurationValue 1 iConfiguration 0 bmAttributes 0xc0 Self Powered MaxPower 100mA Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber 0 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 2 bInterfaceClass 8 Mass Storage bInterfaceSubClass 6 SCSI bInterfaceProtocol 80 Bulk (Zip) iInterface 0 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x84 EP 4 IN bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x05 EP 5 OUT bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 0 Device Status: 0x0000 (Bus Powered) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I look forward to hearing from any of you, and to receiving any advice you may have for me. If you mean you cannot transfer SMS messages from the old phone to your computer, then perhaps my patch which is required for env3 SMS support (at least for some env3 phones) might help. I have not tested writing SMS messages to a phone, but it would probably work. See this previous mailing list post for the patch and Windows build including said patch: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=bitpim-devel&max_rows=25&style=nested&viewmonth=201006&viewday=8 - Daniel Perelman |

The Samsung Gravity SGH-T669 is a GSM Phone. Bitpim is for CDMA Phones. Don L. -----Original Message----- From: Branan Purvine-Riley [mailto:br...@gm...] Sent: Saturday, August 28, 2010 6:20 PM To: bit...@li... Subject: [BitPim-devel] Supporting the Samsung SGH-T669 Hello everyone, I just (today) got a new phone, a Samsung Gravity (SGH-T669). It doesn't seem to be currently supported, and I'd like to help fix that. I'm a developer, but I don't really have any experience with USB, either writing for it or sniffing it. With some coaching, I'm sure I could figure it out and be at least somewhat helpful. To start, I've got an lsusb dump from the device. Probably not very useful, I know. I can get a windows VM up and running to run a USB sniffer on the device from Samsung's propriatary software program. The only reason I haven't done that yet is because I really don't know how to interpret that data yet. --Branan ==BEGIN lsusb DATA HERE== Bus 001 Device 004: ID 04e8:6810 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd Device Descriptor: bLength 18 bDescriptorType 1 bcdUSB 2.00 bDeviceClass 2 Communications bDeviceSubClass 2 Abstract (modem) bDeviceProtocol 1 AT-commands (v.25ter) bMaxPacketSize0 64 idVendor 0x04e8 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd idProduct 0x6810 bcdDevice 0.01 iManufacturer 2 SAMSUNG Electronics CO.,Ltd. iProduct 1 Qualcomm Configuration iSerial 0 bNumConfigurations 1 Configuration Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 2 wTotalLength 67 bNumInterfaces 2 bConfigurationValue 1 iConfiguration 1 Qualcomm Configuration bmAttributes 0xe0 Self Powered Remote Wakeup MaxPower 500mA Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber 0 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 1 bInterfaceClass 2 Communications bInterfaceSubClass 2 Abstract (modem) bInterfaceProtocol 1 AT-commands (v.25ter) iInterface 0 CDC Header: bcdCDC 1.10 CDC ACM: bmCapabilities 0x02 line coding and serial state CDC Call Management: bmCapabilities 0x03 call management use DataInterface bDataInterface 1 CDC Union: bMasterInterface 0 bSlaveInterface 1 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x81 EP 1 IN bmAttributes 3 Transfer Type Interrupt Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0040 1x 64 bytes bInterval 5 Interface Descriptor: bLength 9 bDescriptorType 4 bInterfaceNumber 1 bAlternateSetting 0 bNumEndpoints 2 bInterfaceClass 10 CDC Data bInterfaceSubClass 0 Unused bInterfaceProtocol 0 iInterface 0 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x82 EP 2 IN bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0200 1x 512 bytes bInterval 32 Endpoint Descriptor: bLength 7 bDescriptorType 5 bEndpointAddress 0x01 EP 1 OUT bmAttributes 2 Transfer Type Bulk Synch Type None Usage Type Data wMaxPacketSize 0x0200 1x 512 bytes bInterval 32 Device Qualifier (for other device speed): bLength 10 bDescriptorType 6 bcdUSB 2.00 bDeviceClass 2 Communications bDeviceSubClass 2 Abstract (modem) bDeviceProtocol 1 AT-commands (v.25ter) bMaxPacketSize0 64 bNumConfigurations 1 Device Status: 0x0001 Self Powered ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------ Sell apps to millions through the Intel(R) Atom(Tm) Developer Program Be part of this innovative community and reach millions of netbook users worldwide.
