Great news Alois!

Perhaps you are familiar with the open source COMEDI libraries for data 
acqusition and control?   (http://www.comedi.org/applications.html)

These may be a good basis to build a system around.  There  are even 
some open source COMEDI based acquisition software (e.g., 
http://www.linux-usb-daq.co.uk/software2/comedi-record/) that could get 
a deloper started quickly.
