Hi again I did some more tests about the MySQL connection problem. The error comes from the following query that is send during the connection: SHOW GRANTS FOR current_user() I can send this query to the server (MySQL V4.0.17) via the "Query Browser" and I get an error --- You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'current_user()' at line 1 --- I checked the server documentation and the "current_user()" and the function is known. The query SELECT current_user() returns 'root@localhost' Running the query SHOW GRANTS FOR root@localhost returns 'GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '...' WITH GRANT OPTION' In the manual of 4.0.17 the example of using the current_user() function in SHOW GRANTS is listed in the manual as it should work since version 4.0.6. But obviously this does not work at least not in both of these versions. I tried with an other mysql server (V 4.1.10) on a GNU/Linux OS SHOW GRANTS FOR CURRENT_USER() returns 'GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'%crpht.lu' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '...' WITH GRANT OPTION' And the bibus mysql connection to this server runs with no problems. I do not know if this may be considered as a bug or not. Are there others using MySQL < 4.1?
