3-letter month macros within .bib files (like "month = aug" or "month = mar") are not supported by biber. When using BibTeX, they are transformed into language-specific strings like "March" in english and "März" in german for "mar". This is very useful to keep the .bib multilingual.

    This will be implemented in 0.7.3 and I'll get dev binaries of this posted as soon as SF is back online. With biblatex, these macros expand to month numbers as the localisation is done by biblatex, not by biber. If you are using the perl source version of biber, you can pull the latest DEV branch commit.

    Note that there isn't that much use in using the month macros if you are only using biblatex as biblatex has to have numbers for the month field so they are just expanding to another non-localised fixed string anyway.

    This is now implemented with the option to disable these macros if you need to.
