Hi, I just installed TeXLive-teTeX and in the process obtained BibDesk, of which I was previously unaware. It looks like it might be really useful but I'm having problems importing my .bib files. With one of them, it reports an error: "Unable to convert characters to encoding Western (ASCII)". The line in question reads: abstract = { in the following context: month = {June}, year = {1999}, url = {http://xenia.media.mit.edu/~kdm/research/papers/kdm-phdthesis.pdf}, abstract = { The ability of a normal human listener to recognize objects in the environment from only the sounds they produce is extraordinarily robust with regard to characteristics of the acoustic environment and of other competing sound sources. In I've tried removing and re-typing the line itself and even a couple of lines around it in case of any invisible characters, but to no avail. I've tried it with the latest nightly build but again, no joy. Does anyone have any advice on what might be going on? The other .bib file I've tried it even worse: it reports an attempt to insert nil value, as per the subject title of this post. If anyone would like me to send them the .bib files in question, please just email. Thanks, Hamish |
