avirec works very well on the same system,
but under kernel 2.4.24.
Both kernels use OSS/Free soundblaster driver,
which works well with every other apps.
config = slack 9.1, plain libc (don't think
NPTL is in use since the slack libc is
2.3.2 libc, without NPTL patch). Thought
it was a threading problem, but I don't think
so anymore.
Anyway, I use the following command :
avirec -n secam -c XviD -t 5s s.avi
and get this :
read /dev/dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable
read /dev/dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable
...
read /dev/dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable
time: 4 frames: 63 cap drop: 27 enc drop: 0read /dev/
dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable
read /dev/dsp: Resource temporarily unavailable
...
Killed
The film is empty (no sound, no image), but is not small
at the end.

Oh, I forgot to tell that no other process
was using the /dev/dsp device, of course...
