I'm afraid I'm the wrong person to ask a technical question about that :)

Attached is a screenshot of Audacity before you guys "fixed" the
slider's background. This is default GTK+ theme on Ubuntu 10.04. As
you can easily see, the "wrong" color of sliders was actually the
right one, contrary to most of UI.
