Here's a few ideas to incorporate what you guys want. To adjust all tracks gains, other apps use the usual modifier key SHIFT. Vegas actualy lets the user focus on the track panel(TAB jumps between the panel and wavedisplay), and thus let's you CTRL+A all tracks or do the SHIFT+click and CTRL+click thing. If this seems kind unintuitive, how about a small row of buttons that we can place important functions in, such as 'SelAll' for selecting all tracks. If you'd like to take down two track gains, selecting them via SHIFT+click is mandatory(for blind users the TAB method is worth some thought,so it's keyboard only), but for all ... I agree with Dave on the background activity of an audio audio app, but there's room for both methods and the simple one is good for beginners. The pros can set that to 'just tell me how much and I'll handle it'. That little row of buttons can be just above the track panels, and I think it's a good idea to keep it visible at all times and thus have it behave like a toolbar(but not be movable). Other buttons to place here at 'UnMuteAll'(Green button will do), 'UnSoloAll'(red button with Solo on it would do) and whatever we can think of. Little buttons folks. Edit modes perhaps as soon as regions come in to play. Anyway, two methods would be fine. I'd like that choice with the default being automatic gain reduction. This has to be indicated however.
