Just so you know, you would have to upgrade to 3.0.3 in order to generate
the .aup3 file.  Also, there is no way to convert an .aup3 file into an
.aup file (so that it would run on 2.x.x).

Greetings,

My name is Helios Martinez Dominguez. I am an audio engineer and amateur
developer. Just started to learn C basics lately within Havard's CS50x
(Introduction to Computer Science) course. I have worked very hard to
develop a single pass mastering tool for my personal studio (Estudio
Siddhi) and the linux community. It is still a command line tool and I have
had trouble supporting 24 bit data files, yet, it supports 16 bit data WAV
files, even when I have had a hard time managing non-standard WAV headers.
I recognize the whole mastering process is about reducing bandwidth and
dynamic range while preserving wave content characteristics, and as such,
24 bit support is required. Still, I have not been able to provide it. It
is awfully naive, I shall admit, yet it is effective in achieving a
companding curve which enhances harmonic content while compressing peaks
and RMS. This letter is an open invitation to give it a try, and to include
it into Audacity's toolbox if required or wanted. I am new to both C
language and GitHub platform, so please be gentle at judging it:

Thanks Dave.  I am retired and a volunteer.  I am more interested in
investigating these problems so that they can be fixed for everyone than I
am in any money.  If you have a damaged .aup3 file, then post the issue on
the forum.  I'll reply and then after that I'll take a look at it.

The tar.gz file is showing version 3.0.3-alpha-20210819 when I try to
compile it, is that normal?

Also getting a warning about these options even though it's listed in
CMAKE_OPTIONS.md

Yes, this story was caused as a result of a privacy policy our legal team
drafted for an upcoming release. Some community members interpreted its
wording to mean that Audacity would be storing and sharing your private
information (which of course is not the case). We do deserve some criticism
because the privacy policy was clearly very poorly worded and not released
with any context.

I mean, I feel like it actually *would be* too much to ask. If developers
aren't already using such a system it's a pretty big shift to start. But
fortunately, there's already a Discord server so you don't have to ask! :-P
