When zoomed all of the way out, the spherical
projection feels a bit weird -- it is as though I am
looking at a sphere instead of being inside of one. I
think that this would be a bit better if the zoomed out
mode wasn't zoomed out so much. Is that possible?

Maybe you could zoom in just enough so that the corners
of the screen brushed the edges of the sperical projection?
