File filter induces duplicate results

Feature request or a bug perhaps:
Duplicate extensions in filter returns duplicate files being listed in the results.
A file filter like ".x,.bar,.y,.bar,.z" results in the same .bar file being listed twice in the results. A quick fix could be to ignore duplicate file filters .. but a file filter like ".x,.ba?,.y,.?ar,.z" induces the same behaviour. Which kind of rules that out.
I think that file entries should be merged, and duplicate results removed.
