Not especially happy with the implemented solution as it is prone to concurrency issues as well as RCP problems regarding the presence of the plugin. It is also not pluggable (although I am not sure it should be). Time will tell.

This used to work and stopped working when we moved to RCP. Have to handle a few thread problems to readd it. Will work on it.
