Hi, some may remember, that some time ago I announced to re-design stendhal. Well, time went by, I had some discussions with Miguel, some more time went by, and now I'm up to the task. What I do *not* want to do: Offer some exaggerated design-document, yell "attack", and then sink knee-deep in the bugs with some over-used developers. Instead, I want to *slowly* implement a different ruleset on the server-side. This also means some changes on the GUI of the client sooner or, most probably, rather later. What I do *not* want to do is Fork, as I want to take part in the fast and furious developement of Stendhal. And where my time permits, I want to help on tasks that would benefit the "main" Stendhal. What I envision, is a "common" Stendhal, much as like as Marauroa is for Stendhal, that produces two different types of server when building, and a "true common" client, that changes its behaviour, depending on what kind of server it connects to. But that is only a very rough, very immature idea. What I ask you all for, is thinking and telling about ways to enable me to build and offer a different ruleset, while not getting off the train of the fast techical developement (rendering, pathfinding, graphical assets, etc.) The inofficial codename for the variant will be Stendhal-GD, and when the first working version is ready, I will hopefully be able to offer a gameserver (this make take some months, though). What do you think? Ragnar-GD a_gamedesigner@Arianne.sourceforge.net ______________________________________________________________ Verschicken Sie romantische, coole und witzige Bilder per SMS!
