Having a key coupled to a home scroll would save many lives. I got this idea after I got attacked in the rat cave by a dark elf leader.

The same could apply for using potions and other things.
Ideally this could be some form of macro that could associate function keys (or possibly any key combo) with triggering an item. This would probably have to be configured each session, since I don't know if one could reliably associate items (without a lot of assumptions) except by thier ID, which is transient. And probably just limit it to items in the inventoty for simplicity.

Each type of item could have a hotkey. Are there more than 26 usable items? Otherwise, hotkeys could be stored server-side as part of the inventory database. That way people who play from multiple clients can still save their hotkeys. If the client does need to associate items, it could go by item name. And also, if there isn't a universal id for each item type, I don't see why there shouldn't be.
