I downloader the 64-bit version of areca-7.5 a moment ago. Then I enpacked the zip file into a folder where I keep all my open source programs. Upon a click on arec.exe, the program reported that it needs java. I followed the instructions and installed java. But when clicking now on areca.exe - nothing happens. What's wrong here?

Yep, it was the java v8. I installed the most recent java runtime for 64-bit processors and now it works. My first backup with areca is currently executing....

I had the same probleme recently !
To solve, I unistalled JAVA v8, and i installed JAVA v7.
After, Areca works !
