Can apt-proxy be configured to use a http proxy server? With regard to rsync efficiency, wouldn't rsync be more efficient when you have an existing file to build the new file from? With http/ftp you must get the complete file every time. I do appreciate that rsync does put more load on the server and I have discovered that my local mirror (ftp.au.debian.org) disables compression on their rsync server for that reason.
