We have never had BX1600MI, but we probably have been lucky enough to 
not encounter any unsolvable issues with apcupsd + APC UPSes. The worst 
case would be finding the right settings in apcupsd.conf and/or the 
right cable. Below is a sampling of models we currently have in our 
facility and corresponding settings from apcupsd.conf. I understand 
MODELs as reported by apcupsd are somewhat simplistic, but that's all I 
know how to retrieve via command line (If there is a way to get a better 
model ID without crawling behind server racks to peek at the back of the 
unit, please let me know).
