Not virtualized stuff which proves nothing. My failed attempts to make this work with apcupsd and nut have so far been on two different physical Linux machines. To try to prove fault I had to use Powerchute Serial Shutdown in a Windows VM, but it doesn't misbehave there. I don't think I want to go as far as installing Windows on a physical machine; I think PCSS would still work there and so I'd learn nothing. > Some people have even plugged in a 4 port USB hub in between their > PC and the UPS and fixed it that way. It's what I fear. I'd really like to hear if there's any other users of Back-UPS BX1600MI or similar models out there. If there are no known successful users of my model out there then I think this is a report that it doesn't work and it's not just flaky USB on several of my computers. I guess in future I would have to hear from an apcupsd/nut user of a specific model before I would be confident in buying it, especially as APC customer service seemingly won't listen to any diagnostics that don't come out of their hardware or Windows software. Thanks, Andy |
