Yes i have tried , but I think my serial to usb adapter could be a problem.
I need to investigate this more. 

But I was just wondering if it would be possible and if you can have DATA on
windows, it would indeed also work on Linux.

Hi Pieter,

I have a Back-UPS CS-350 but it is monitored through the Windows
implementation of apcupsd.
It's using the standard 10-pin-RJ to USB cable that came with the UPS.

I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't work on Linux if a package is
available.
Have you tried it?
