[Apcupsd-users] Using the SU-3000's ethernet interface

I've downloaded APCUPSD and am trying to get it to connect to the
UPS (an SU3000 rackmount) using the ethernet interface. However,
I don't see a way to do this. All the connection methods require
a serial cable.

Should I be able to connect using the ethernet interface? If so,
is there anything preventing me from having several systems
connecting via ethernet to a single unit? Granted, I would want
only one system controlling the unit, but I *should* be able to
have several reading it....

Or am I completely mistaken in the purpose and application of the
ethernet interface, thus needing to resort to ancient serial cable
technology?
