As per the documentation, just say "UPSCABLE usb" and you will be fine. > Recompiling my kernel to the specs given in the > apcupsd manual. > > I type the following and get: > > $ usbdevs -vd > Controller /dev/usb0: > addr 1: full speed, self powered, config 1, UHCI root > hub(0x0000), VIA(0x1106), rev 1.00 > uhub0 > port 1 powered > port 2 powered > Controller /dev/usb1: > addr 1: full speed, self powered, config 1, UHCI root > hub(0x0000), VIA(0x1106), rev 1.00 > uhub1 > port 1 powered > port 2 powered > $ > > The UPS is plugged into a usb port on that machine, > but it doesn't seem to be registering at all. > [...] > Is the USB on that machine just dead or is my hardware > unsupported? Any additional information would help. USB is working enough for the kernel to see your root hubs, which is a good sign. Is the UPS turned on? The USB port is not active if the UPS is turned off. Try hot-plugging the UPS and check the dmesg log for a reaction from the kernel. Until the kernel sees the UPS and binds ugen to it, apcupsd will not work. --Aadm |
