Thank you for the reply, Asanga.
I've installed successfully UobwinAODV on three PCs and it works well... but
I've the following problem:
pc "A" can ping pc "B", but pc "B" can't ping pc "A".
Why this?
I follow these steps for all the PCs:
- stop all firewall/antivirus
- connect to AODV through Windows Interface, in order to acquire IP
address(for all PCs, IP is 192.168.1.x, without gateway)
- start UoBWinAODV in console mode
Is there anything wrong in these steps?
Moreover, I don't see new route entry in UobWinAODV output...
I hope you could help me.
In the following you can find my configurations
Kind regards.

Hello Saverio,
I see that you have downloaded and installed the UoBWinAODV. The site was
down for sometime due to maintenance work.
To make UoBWinAODV work, a communication session must start. One simple
communication tool is the ping command. Try pinging one node from another.
If this does not work, it may be due to configuration issues. You can send
me the following information so that I can look to see if you have any
problems with the way you have configured UoBWinAODV.
- output of factotum /enum
- output of ipconfig /all and route print
- uobwinaodv.conf
- uobwinaodv.log
Kind regards,
Asanga

Hi everyone, I'm trying to use UobWinAODV in order to make a mesh network among 3 nodes. I've installed it on all my nodes. I run UobWinAODV application but the nodes cannot see each other (I stopped all firewall and antivirus). Couls anyone explain me how to configure this application in order to make a mesh network? Thanks in advance Regards Saverio |

Hello all, I am tring to run MAODV from UMD now, but seems some problems blocked me. I have download aodv-uu-0.7.2 and used the corresponding patch, then I typed 'aodvd -i eth0 -l -r 3' and it runs. Then I set up a scenario to test this protocol. I use 3 computers A<->B<->C, where A cannot communicate with C directly(I use 'iptables -A INPUT -j DROP -m mac --mac-source <mac addr of A or C>' to achieve this). I run MAODV on all these 3 computers and let computer A to send multicast packets, let C to receive multicast packets, A and C are members of the multicast group. The median computer B just funcions as a multicast router. Then the problem comes. The receive routine on C cannot receive multicast packets. But when I use 'tcpdump' on C I found the multicast packets did come into to this computer. Then I add some 'printf' to the MAODV source code and found that couputer C receives multicast packets at NF_IP_PRE_ROUTING and re-send these out at NF_IP_LOCAL_OUT, but never send it to the application layer at NF_IP_LOCAL_IN, in spite of this computer is actually member of the multicast group. I don`t why this happen. Could anyone help me please? Thanks! BTW: in the linux kernel options, I have the 'IP: multicasting' and 'IP: multicast routing' enabled, and when A sends packet, I have set ttl >1. Regards Song |

Hi all
I want to simulate AODV protocol under NS2 and get a graph witch
represents packets delivery ratio vs pause time. but my results
are not logical
i have obtned those results :
pause time packet delivery ratio
0 48.84
25 48.73
100 40.35
200 33.89
250 25.12
300 25.03
i have generated the movement files with setdest command.
normally when the pause time increase the ration also increase.
but not case with my results
Can you say me what is the problem.
Thanks in advance

Elizabeth and I plan to suspend the AODV implementers list soon. I would like to invite all subscribers to join the MANET mailing list (https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/manet) and ask people to post any AODV or DYMO implementation issues there. Note, the AODV implementors mail archive should remain accessible, even after the list has been suspended. Sincerely, Ian Chakeres |

Hello, in an ad-hoc network security class that I am taking we are = attempting to get AODV-UU running. We have successfully gotten AODV-UU = compiled, running, and communicating with it's one-hop neighbor. With = two nodes we are able to ping each other without issues. Unfortunately = we are as-of-yet unable to get the one-hop neighbor to be able to update = the source node's (A) routing table. Our network looks like this: A <--> B <--> C A has an entry for B in it's routing table. C has an entry for B in it's = routing table. B has an entry for A and C in it's routing table. When we = try to ping C from A we do not get a Route Reply from B showing that A's = next hop should be B. Have you experienced this before? Do you have any = suggestions for us to try to get this resolved? We are running AODV-UU 0.9.5 on Fedora Core 6, Fedora Core 7, and a = Debian machine all with 2.6.20 kernels. We are using Proxim silver and = gold cards with MadWifi drivers but they appear to be running properly = since they are communicating perfectly between two nodes. We initially = thought it was a forwarding issue with the RREQ packets but since B has = the destination in it's routing table it should be able to reply to A, = correct? Thank you for any suggestions or help you may be able to provide. Ben |

Hi Now I don't know whether this is also the problem in your case, but I found that frequently lost routes are because HELLO packets get lost. If, however, you update the HELLO timer in rt_table_update_route_timeouts (which is called when 'normal' traffic is received) this should fix the problem. I hope it helps. Dear All, I am a master student working on Multipath Routing for MANET for my thesis at University of Tehran. I am working with GloMoSim, and I need the implementation code for MP-AOMDV "Dynamically Adaptive Multipath Routing based on AODV, by P. Sambasivam, A. Murthy & E. Belding". It would be so nice of you if you send me the implementation code, please. Thanks in advance for your considerations. Hi I'm looking for a MAODV implementation. All I found was the AODV-UU patch from the University of Maryland. Unfortunately this patch was updated in 2003 last - so it won't work with recent AODV-UU versions like 0.93 or 0.94. I would be very pleased if someone could give me a hint where to find a different MAODV implementation. If anybody modified the MAODV patch from University of Maryland to work with newer AODV-UU versions I would be very happy to get a copy of the patch. Best regards Karsten |

Hello: I`m trying to implement aodv-uu on my computer running Fedora(in vmware), my linux kernel is 2.4.22. I followed the steps in the README file: 1. unpack the aodv-uu-0.9.4 2. make 3. make install My kernel has netfilter support, and I am using ethernet to do the test(two computers run Fedora in vmware on the ethernet ). Then I tried to run the program, I typed aodvd -i eth0 -l -r 3 and it runs, but I got such results: 21:08:38.033 aodv_socket_init: RAW send socket buffer size set to 131070 21:08:38.033 aodv_socket_init: Receive buffer size set to 131070 21:08:38.033 main: In wait on reboot for 15000 milliseconds. Hi, If KERNEL_DIR is truth, you will be able to create .ko. You should see the 37th line of Makefile. > So it will compile the module with 2.4 version kernel, further it can't > create .ko file. Hi expert, I am trying compiling aodv-uu 0.9.3 for ARM platform (kernel 2.6.14.1). But I met some problems.I found when I "make arm", the compiler wont't execute the first lines of the makefile in lnx folder. The first three lines is as following: ifneq (,$(findstring 2.6,$(KERNELRELEASE))) EXTRA_CFLAGS += -D KERNEL26 $(XDEFS) obj-m += kaodv.o So it will compile the module with 2.4 version kernel, further it can't create .ko file. I wonder if you met the familiar situation and know how to sovle this issue. Thank you for your time and help. I am looking forward to your reply. Yours, Peggy |

Dear expert, I am trying to cross compile aodv-uu 0.9.3 with kernel 2.6.14.1. I met the following error. kaodv-mod.c : In function `kaodv_init': kaodv-mod.c:342: error: `EXPORT_NO_SYMBOLS' undeclared (first use in this function) kaodv-mod.c:342: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once kaodv-mod.c:342: error: for each function it appears in.) I think this error results from the compiler doesn't recognize the correct kernel version. The version is 2.6 but compiling it according to 2.4version. I don't know how to modify that. If I just use "make" to compile the module on local machine, it will be OK. And when I use "make arm" to cross compile it with 2.4 version kernel, it is OK too. So I wonder to know whether you have cross-compiled aodv-uu with 2.6version kernel. I need your help and advice. Thank you for your time to consider. I am looking forward to your reply. Dear all: I am trying to install aodv-uu to well-installed SNS (the most updated version),however it generates a lot of compilation error from aodv-uu.cc and other associated files, after I spent two days to fix all of bugs, finally no compilation error, but, it gave me a thousand of lines of link error, as follows: (Background:SNS used older version NS2, tcl8.3.2. otcl 1.0a11, tclcl1.15, I also tried to build SNS based on newer version of NS2, it failed completely. The problem is that aodv-uu seems like requiring higher GCC compiler than 3.3, and SNS requires lower GCC such as eariler than 2.96. I try to make "aodv-uu on SNS". Is this do-able? I know most of NS2 versions have good compatability with aodv-uu, but I am aksing about SNS by Cornell now) Thanks in advanced ! Dear All, As we know that using AODV routing protocol, before sending the data, the source sends an RREQ messages and initiate the data transfer on the reception of RREP message (which containts the route). SendRequest(..) function is used to send the RREQ message. I am trying to find out the binding between the trigger (in tcl script) which sends the data (for example "cbr start") and the aodv mechanism which stops the source to send the packet and initiate (calls) the Send Request function (in NS-2 AODV code) I mean to say that how the Traffic Agent (UDP/CBR) comes to know that we are using AODV routing protocol so we need to first perform RREQ/RREP cycle and then send the data. This is exactly opposite in Proactive routing protocol where the data is sent by consulting the routing tables. Many thanks for your help. Best Regards, Usman Javaid |

Hi Indra,
I jus want to share my experience with you. You may try like this
---------- ---------------- --------------
| LAN | <---> eth0<-| Gateway |->eth1 <---> | MANET |
---------- ----------------
--------------
Give IP addresses for normal LAN and MANET.
Systems in the LAN should have the IP addresses [For ex -192.168.0.x]
Systems in the MANET should have the IP addresses [For ex -192.168.1.x]
So eth1 address will 192.168.1.1 and eth0 192.168.0.100 (example)
In the MANET side you should give route add default GW 192.168.1.1 <ifname>
I think you will have the interent GW in LAN. Now you can easilly connect to
the internet .
Expecting you can acheive your thought
Thanks & Regards
