#5 Android 5.1 rc1 doesn't respond to mouse input

[Context: I have previously installed Android 4.4 r3 into a VM in Hyper-V and it is working correctly.]

I just installed Android 5.1 rc1 from iso into a VM in Hyper-V and though it installs and I see the opening setup screen, it responds incorrectly to mouse click. Clicking anywhere on the screen -- whether on the yellow arrow-button or anywhere else -- causes a circular disk to appear to the lower-left of the language selector -- see attachment. Upon first mouse click, the dot appears as shown, with that first click and subsequent clicks causing the dot to flash white then go back to as shown.
