Amavisd is a daemonised version of amavis. This release
supersedes all amavisd-snapshot releases to date.

This is the new stable release of amavis. It is the direct
successor to and supersedes amavis-perl-11.

The shell-based amavis-0.1.x, 0.2.x series of amavis
has been discontinued.

AMaViS-ng is a modular rewrite of amavisd and amavis-perl. It scans email for malicious code inside attachments and archive files, stopping delivery if malicious code is found. It supports integration of several third-party virus scanners and integrates nicely into several MTA setups. Unlike amavis-perl and amavisd, there is no need for build-time configuration.

Changes:
Support for Courier-MTA, CLAM Antivirus daemon, F-Prot daemon ("enterprise") version, INOC, NOD32 daemon, RAV, Trophie daemon, and drWeb has been added. The main documentation is now provided in Texinfo format.

This is the third release of AMaViS-ng, a modular rewrite of amavis-perl and amavisd.

Support for the qmail MTA has been added. The SMTP server module is more robust now. Bugs have been fixed in handling MIME messages. ARJ archives are supported now. Support has been added for Bitdefender, F-Prot, h+bEDV Antivir, MKS-Vir, NAI uvscan, Norman Virus Control.

I have released the first version of AMaViS-ng. This is a modular
rewrite of amavis-perl/amavisd that allows for different MTA and
antivirus setups, on the same codebase.

What is different from amavisd/amavis-perl

Once qmail is supported, amavisd will become the
new stable release of amavis.
