Thanks, by the way, why AW supports both Swing and web based interface? It will be far easier for users and develpers to focus on one kind of interface (Web is better of course). Can't we change the Web interface to cover all the jobs that we can do by Swing interface? -H _____ From: agi...@li... [mailto:agi...@li...] On Behalf Of Bill la Forge Sent: Monday, August 28, 2006 14:20 To: agi...@li... Subject: [agilewiki-wiki] room for more pictures Hmm. Not to overdo it or anything, but I'll note that since AW supports html, we could also include pictures in AW, not just on the home page. But perhaps smaller ones? On the other hand, Hanif, you perhaps should be focusing on studies for now, not on digging out your butterfly collection! :-) Bill _____ Here's a new way to find what you're looking for - Yahoo! <http://us.rd.yahoo.com/mail/in/yanswers/*http://in.answers.yahoo.com/> Answers Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! http://agilewiki.org/aw3/AwServlet?cmd=rid%20634f069c44a41b6bb65a600614dc65c4 I've put together a new team page (above). Still need to create links to it. :-) Note that the page contains only the following: {+header} <hr> {+core} <hr> {+contributors} where header, core and contributors are lsecs under the team page. Now I'm not too happy with the picture. If anyone has a better one (be careful of copyrights, OK?) please pass it on. One thing I really don't like is AW displaying empty documents. Often there are child topics, lsecs or something else worth displaying, but the default is this empty document. Fixed, checked in and deployed at agilewiki.org--I really disliked this. To be included in the next release. --------------------------------- Here's a new way to find what you're looking for - Yahoo! Answers Send FREE SMS to your friend's mobile from Yahoo! I'll confess I prefer the wiki interface to the rolonic one--I like seeing which commands are applicable. Lately I've been using the view command to keep that list short and sweet by selection only the features currently in use. Gennerally I keep Access, Classifiers and Descriptors turned off when writing documentation. Overall, it works great, unlike too much of the rest of the GUI. Much work remains, yes? I really like the way the order commands work. Took me a while to figure out how to do them--I was fixated on forms and they do not use forms. At the same time, I really dislike the order commands. I'm using orderChildren to sort the command documentation as I complete an initial draft of each command and it is tedious, being able to move a child up or down only by one position. I want to exted the order commands with a "insert before" option. That would help a great deal. I'm also thinking that the technique used in the order command could be used to enhance the simple accounting application. That way you just click on an account, enter the transaction amount and you're done. Currently you need to click on an account, click on the command to enter a transaction against the account, enter the account, click on ok and then click on the up command to see the list of accounts again. Gordan, I caught your post on the compstrm forum. Thanks! It is nice to have folk other than myself posting there. But have you tried playing with the updated view command? I really hope this command helps new users learn to use AW much more easily. I know it can be difficult to have to deal with all the various features and commands of AW all at once. There are 55 commands (in 3.3) and, while I've added the headline and some tags for all 55, I've only completed the first 10. Hey, its a start! :-) I'll note that once 3.3 is installed, we can order the command list, mm? Bill --------------------------------- Here's a new way to find what you're looking for - Yahoo! The two errors that I usually hear about are: 1. forgot to start the rmi registry before starting AwServer and 2. forgot to set the classpath before running the rmi registry There are other complications, of course, when running behind a firewall--like we do for agilewiki.org. Note that the order of the parents of a Page or Folder is somewhat important for two reasons: 1. The first parent is used in defining the pathname display. (Though pathnames using any parent will work with references) and 2. Like CSecs, the order of the parents is significant when resolving names when there are duplicate names. Anyway, it is done. Now perhaps I can focus on documentation. It is interesting though that as more of the missing pieces are completed, my motivation increases to complete the rest. And now that we have added CSecs, the overall data structures are pretty much complete. So I'm now ready to work on things like post (copy) and the snap/restore utilities. But I really want to hold off on those until after the 3.3 release. (Much as I miss having post.) Bill --------------------------------- Here's a new way to find what you're looking for - Yahoo!
