Hallo!
I am using Windows 8 and Ubuntu 13.04 (server and desktop) and i really can not find any kind of documentation on how to install Adempiere on these.
I managet to get working older Java on Ubuntu 13.04, but i did not find solutions for weird DB port errors and that installation asks me for DB password.
Or i just didnt seek too well?
are you using postgresql ? if yes you need to modify postgresql.conf and change listen_address = '*'. also check your pg_hba.conf
