Hi,
You don't need to register alcrypto.dll.  But you DO need to register 
activelock2.dll and alutli.dll.  Did you do that?

Warning: inexperienced user!

I created an application with ActiveLock2 (downloaded a month or so ago) and all
appears to be working well.  I've installed it on Windows 2000 machines without
any problems (uh, once I included the ActiveLock libraries!).  However, when I
tried installing it on a Windows 95 machine, the install reports being
successful, but when I try to run the application I get:

Run-time Error '429'

ActiveX component can't create object.

I verified that all the DLLs were referenced in the Registry.  When I tried to
manually register "alcrypto.dll", REGSVR32 reports: "alcrypto.dll was loaded,
but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. DllRegisterServer may not
be exported, or a corrupt version of alcrypto.dll may be in memory."

I uninstalled the application, manually removed 'alcrypto.dll' and then
reinstalled the application.  I still get the same Run-time Error when I try to
run the program and REGSVR32 reports the same message.  Is there a problem with
'alcrypto.dll' running on Windows95?  I get the same error message when running
REGSVR32 on a successful installation on W2K.

Where do I begin to trouble-shoot this problem?  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I apologize for this confusion.  Some of us, who have been tasked with 
keeping the website up-to-date, never bother to do so.
As the result, some of the pages are nearly  half a year out-of-date. :-(
Anyway, thank you for pointing out.  I have updated  the site's download 
page with the link to the SF project download page.
When I have more free time, I will update the rest of the site.

Any other problem I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask.

To answer your question: "Did you not find the tutorial useful?", My first
answer was: absolutely NO.

I created a long message to explain what was going wrong. As I do not want
to blame anybody for providing misinformation, I reread my message and found
in the tutorial your: "For the latest ActiveLock 2 release, check here.". I
felt pretty ashamed as I found out that the version I used (the most recent
version on http://activelock.sourceforge.net/: ActiveLock 2.0a1 with source)
is not your most recent version (yes, I now have version ActiveLock 2.0.4.).
From the other side: why does http://activelock.sourceforge.net/ show an
outdated version: that is my criticism up to now.

For what I have seen now, I must say that I am so impressed that I would
like to show some perseverance and maybe I can be the first to show an
example of ActiveLock within MS Access 2000 (don't worry, up to now I test
ActiveLock in VB6). I see no reason why ActiveLock cannot be used within MS
Access. But I need some time: other issues are waiting too, I must get
acquainted with your software, and I do not want to lock unintentionally my
customers. Hence, I need some learning and experimentation.

Chris,
You can have a read of the Readme for details on how to redistribute 
ActiveLock files. There are 3 files: activelock2.dll, alutuil.dll, and 
alcrypto.dll.
activelock2.dll and alutil.dll are COM dlls so they need to be 
registered on the local machines.  alcrypto.dll is a regular dll that 
must be put on Windows' System32 directory on the local machines
I think in your case, you need to get the network administrator to log 
onto the local machines and register those dlls locally. Then after 
that, other users can use your application.

that the licence is ok, but if I start the app again, the .acquire code =
produces always an error, that the licence IS invalid.

1.) I wrote a programm for schools which using win2000 network. Our =
network is configured, that the user(pupils, teacher...) aren't able to =
write in the registry or install something on the client machines.
So I have to install my programm on the server.
Now whats about the activelock2.dll.
Does it work if i put the dll in the app.path?
Or do you know another way to solve my problem
(Ago I tried it with activelock1.8, but this dosnt work on the intranet, =
because the ocx wasn't registered on the local machines)

I wonder about 3 things:
1.)When i generate a product key with the same name and Version Number =
twice or more, the key generator produce always another V code. Why??

2.) is the name of the *lic file important, should it be the same as the =

3.) What do you mean by name: VB6 Project name or EXE File name?

The result of all my trials was, that the I always produce a invalid =

My English isn't very good, so be calmful.
I'm wrote my app  with VB6.

I Have a problem with my App on win 2000, because i using the ActiveLock =
1.8 .OCX and if i install my app on a server, the OCX will be registered =
in system32 on the server.
But when the workstation will run the programm it will not find the ocx, =
because she isn't registered on the workstation.
So I tried to use the open source, the native code to build in my app.
But I dont know how to use.

I'm trying to muster together another release and the API could use some 
more cleanup...thinking of getting rid of IActiveLock_Register() 
altogether, and simply have ALUGEN create the .lic file directly. This 
would save the user a manual step of "registering"; they'd just put the 
.lic file in the working directory and they're good to go. But of 
course,  removing IActiveLock_Register() will break binary compatibility.

1) Obviously, there must be something wrong with your installer; the dll 
should not be 0k.
2) Did you copy it to the correct place?  It must be installed to the 
system directory (i.e. Windows\System)
