oomwoo is an open-source robot vacuum project designed for people who want to build their own home cleaning robot. It combines Raspberry Pi, ROS2, Home Assistant, 2D LiDAR, ESP32, Arduino, and 3D printing into a community-buildable platform. The project aims to avoid vendor lock-in by keeping the hardware, software, and firmware open. It is designed around local control, with no cloud required for regular operation. The roadmap includes autonomous navigation, mapping, a documented 3D-printable chassis, firmware, motor drivers, sensor electronics, and ROS2 packages.
