Dissent

Dissent is a tiny third-party Discord client built for a native Linux desktop experience. It was previously known as gtkcord4 and is built with GTK4 and libadwaita for a modern, lightweight interface. The app focuses on text chat, speed, simplicity, and lower overhead instead of matching every feature of the official Discord client. It supports Markdown, custom emoji, guild folders, channel categories, tabs, quick switching, file handling, and custom CSS theming. Some advanced areas, such as threads, forums, reactions, and AI summaries, are only partially supported. Dissent does not aim to support voice chat and should be used with awareness that unofficial Discord clients can create account risk.
