Enlightenment is a window manager for the X11 windowing system. Its design goal is to be as configurable as possible - in look AND in feel.

FVWM - Crystal aims to create an easy to use, eye-candy but also powerful desktop environment for Linux or other Unix-like operating systems. Its goals include seeking for better ways of using window manager and providing it with eyecandy interface. It try to exercise FVWM quite a bit. It has some very interesting features unique to Linux/Unix desktops like direct controls for several media players and its ability to bring in full screen virtualy any application. It can flow through the full screened applications and the desktop in a manner similar to the application stack of the Amiga OS, which provides an innovative way to go around the desktop space, without compromising traditional X multiple desktop pages. The core code was written by harnir Maciej Delmanowski with contributions from many other folks. The current developments are led by Dominique Michel.

The Virtual Tab Window Manager. vtwm is a descendant of the reference X11 window manager, twm, enhanced to provide virtual desktops plus many other features, whilst remaining small and efficient.

This is a set of improved artwiz fonts. They are compatible with the latest fontconfig/Xft-2.0. Thus artwiz fonts work with gtk2/kde3 applications. Multiple encodings are available.

bbtools is a set of simple and small desktop tools for the Blackbox window manager. Tools range from a pager (bbpager) to a mail notifier (bbmail).

Notion is a tiling, tabbed window manager for the X window system: * Tiling: you divide the screen into non-overlapping 'tiles'. Every window occupies one tile, and is maximized to it * Tabbing: a tile may contain multiple windows - they will be 'tabbed' * Static: most tiled window managers are 'dynamic', meaning they automatically resize and move around tiles as windows appear and disappear. Notion, by contrast, does not automatically change the tiling. You're in control. Features include: * Workspaces: each workspace has its own tiling * Multihead: the mod_xinerama plugin provides very nice dual-monitor support * RandR: mod_xrandr expands on mod_xinerama and picks up changes in the randr configuration without the need for restarting Notion * Extensibility: Notion can be extended with lua scripts.

Fvwm95 is a window manager with Windows-95 look and feel. It is derived from the well known fvwm.

Exploring minimal window manager space on the Linux desktop.

Waimea is a fast and highly customizable virtual multiple desktop window manager. It supports advanced features like transparent textures and Xft fonts.

Twin is a text-mode window environment. It supports mouse and multiple windows, has a built-in terminal emulator and window manager, and can serve as display for client applications. Its retro look-and-feel comes with very modern features: it is best described as a VNC-like server, that can use a variety of displays - all with mouse support: from a plain text terminal, to a Linux console, to a full kde, gnome or X11 desktop. SyncWall is quite a basic wallpaper changer with a special feature, it is the ability to synchronize wallpaper change between several workstations with a basic (and unsecured) client/server protocol. Each workstation must share the same pool of files, there is no FTP or Internet download. Because SyncWall is written with Qt, SyncWall runs on Windows and Linux (MacOSX isn't tested yet).
