ruby bindings to libgit2
Rugged is a library for accessing libgit2 in Ruby. It gives you the speed and portability of libgit2 with the beauty of the Ruby language. libgit2 is a pure C implementation of the Git core methods. It's designed to be fast and portable. For more information about libgit2, check out libgit2's website or browse the libgit2 organization on GitHub. You need to have CMake and pkg-config installed on your system to be able to build the included version of libgit2. Note that you only need libgit2-dev if you want to build with the system libgit2 rather than the vendored version. In this case, note that the major and minor versions of libgit2 and rugged must match. By default, Rugged builds and uses a bundled version of libgit2. Rugged gives you access to the many parts of a Git repository. You can read and write objects, walk a tree, access the staging area, and lots more. Let's look at each area individually. -

VersionPress automatically creates Git commits for both file and database changes, in natural language. Plugins break, people make mistakes; sometimes, you just want that good old Undo button. Git took the pain out of file merging; VersionPress does the same for WP database. You can push to GitHub, your colleagues pull and make the site fully functional in seconds. MySQL is a cache. VersionPress can store hundreds of full site snapshots to just a few megabytes. We care about UX deeply. VersionPress should not be a low-level tool for geeks. It works fine on simpler sites and you're encouraged to try it in your development workflows but it is not production-ready yet. -

By default, the commit is made in the name of "GitHub Actions" and co-authored by the user that made the last commit. Note that the Action has to be used in a Job that runs on a UNIX system (e.g. ubuntu-latest). If you don't use the default permission of the GITHUB_TOKEN, give the Job or Workflow at least the contents: write permission. The goal of this Action is to be "the Action for committing files for the 80% use case". Therefore, you might run into issues if your Workflow falls into the not supported 20% portion. If your Workflow can't push the commit to the repository because of authentication issues, please update your Workflow configuration. -

It helps developers understand why a line was added or changed without leaving the editor. The plugin shows the latest related commit in a popup window, floating window, or preview window depending on the editor version. If the most recent commit is not enough, users can explore older commits from the same interface. It can also show the diff for a selected commit, including options for unified and word diffs. git peek is the fastest way to open a remote git repository in your local text editor. Use it when you want to browse or search other people's code with your own editor. Pass git peek a git repository or a github link, and it will quickly fetch and open it in your local editor. It stores the repository in a temporary directory and deletes it when you close the editor or git peek. If you don't pass git peek input, it will let you search Github repositories and show trending repositories. If you paste a link to a file on GitHub, it will quickly open the file in your local editor. If you pass it a GitHub repository, it fetches a tarball instead of using git and decompresses it while downloading it (streaming). From unscientific benchmarks, this is about 2x faster than cloning. While downloading & decompressing the tarball, it also downloads the specific file linked to (or the README.md) via JSDelivr's CDN. -

git-sizer computes various size metrics for a local Git repository, flagging those that might cause you problems or inconvenience. Is the repository too big overall? Ideally, Git repositories should be under 1 GiB, and (without special handling) they start to get unwieldy over 5 GiB. Big repositories take a long time to clone and repack, and take a lot of disk space. Avoid storing generated files (e.g., compiler output, JAR files) in Git. It would be better to regenerate them when necessary, or store them in a package registry or even a fileserver. Avoid storing large media assets in Git. You might want to look into Git-LFS or git-annex, which allow you to version your media assets in Git while actually storing them outside of your repository. Avoid storing file archives (e.g., ZIP files, tarballs) in Git, especially if compressed. Different versions of such files don't delta well against each other, so Git can't store them efficiently. -

However, if you can use immutable data in performance-critical parts of your application it's easy to implement a fast shouldComponentUpdate() method to significantly speed up your app. Dealing with immutable data in JavaScript is more difficult than in languages designed for it, like Clojure. However, we've provided a simple immutability helper, update(), that makes dealing with this type of data much easier, without fundamentally changing how your data is represented. You can also take a look at Facebook's Immutable.js and React’s Using Immutable Data Structures section for more detail on Immutable.js. You have no way of determining which data has changed since the previous copy has been overwritten. Instead, you need to create a new copy of myData and change only the parts of it that need to be changed. -

Node version management
Node.js version management: no subshells, no profile setup, no convoluted API, just simple. n is not supported natively on Windows. There are a variety of ways of specifying the target Node.js version for n commands. Most commands use the latest matching version, and n ls-remote lists multiple matching versions. n downloads a prebuilt Node.js package and installs to a single prefix (e.g. /usr/local). This overwrites the previous version. The bin folder in this location should be in your PATH (e.g. /usr/local/bin). The downloads are kept in a cache folder to be used for reinstalls. The downloads are also available for limited use using n which and n run and n exec. The global npm packages are not changed by the install, with the exception of npm itself which is part of the Node.js install. -

It works really well with simple-git-hooks. You can look up about git hooks on the Pro Git book. simple-git-hooks works well for small-sized projects when you need quickly set up hooks and forget about it. However, this package requires you to manually apply the changes to git hooks. If you update them often, this is probably not the best choice. Also, this package allows you to set only one command per git hook. -
