SVBus Virtual SCSI Host Adapter for GRUB4DOS
Today we present a new virtual SCSI driver for use with GRUB4DOS named SVBus. The driver is used like WinVBlock and FiraDisk to access GRUB4DOS mapped drives from Windows. At the moment VHD file disk and RAM boot are supported. The supported OS platforms are Windows 2000 up to the newest Windows 10 on x86 and x64 architectures. For interested developers the source code is included and licensed under the GPL. cdc-file-transfer is a bandwidth-efficient file transfer and sync tool that uses content-defined chunking to detect and transmit only the parts of files that actually changed. Unlike fixed-size blocks, content-defined chunks are cut at data-dependent boundaries, which means shifts and insertions don’t invalidate the rest of the file’s delta map. The tool maintains chunk fingerprints and a manifest so it can de-duplicate across versions and even across different files that share regions of content. This approach makes it well suited for large logs, VM images, and binary assets where small edits would otherwise force full re-uploads. The implementation focuses on being robust over unreliable networks with resumable transfers and integrity checks that verify every chunk. Operationally, it behaves like a straightforward CLI: point it at a source and destination and it negotiates what needs to move, minimizing CPU and bandwidth where possible. -

Crunch is an image compression tool for lossy PNG image file optimization. Using a combination of selective bit depth, color palette reduction and color type, as well as zopfli DEFLATE compression algorithm encoding that employs the pngquant and zopflipng PNG optimization tools, Crunch is effectively able to optimize and compress images with minimal decrease in image quality. While it may produce file size gains larger than those produced by lossless approaches, the impact on image quality is often imperceptible, and optimized file sizes are still significantly lower than the original. -

A FileReader polyfill for Internet Explore and Safari using Flash
FileReader is a polyfill library combining JavaScript and Flash (SWF) to mimic the HTML5 File API in older browsers (notably Internet Explorer and Safari versions that did not support File API fully). It overlays a transparent Flash SWF over a DOM element to allow users to select files, then exposes a .files attribute etc., so that client-side file reading behaves more like modern standard. It is unmaintained now, since File API support is widespread. -

Find files and directories via an intuitive fluent interface
The Finder component finds files and directories based on different criteria (name, file size, modification time, etc.) via an intuitive fluent interface. If you install this component outside of a Symfony application, you must require the vendor/autoload.php file in your code to enable the class autoloading mechanism provided by Composer. The $file variable is an instance of Symfony\Component\Finder\SplFileInfo which extends PHP’s own SplFileInfo to provide methods to work with relative paths. The Finder object doesn’t reset its internal state automatically. This means that you need to create a new instance if you do not want to get mixed results. The component provides lots of methods to define the search criteria. They all can be chained because they implement a fluent interface. The location is the only mandatory criteria. It tells the finder which directory to use for the search. -

Secure software enclave for storage of sensitive information in memory
This package attempts to reduce the likelihood of sensitive data being exposed when in memory. It aims to support all major operating systems and is written in pure Go. Sensitive data is encrypted and authenticated in memory with XSalsa20Poly1305. The scheme used also defends against cold-boot attacks. Memory allocation bypasses the language runtime by using system calls to query the kernel for resources directly. This avoids interference from the garbage collector. Buffers that store plaintext data are fortified with guard pages and canary values to detect spurious accesses and overflows. The effort is taken to prevent sensitive data from touching the disk. This includes locking memory to prevent swapping and handling core dumps. Kernel-level immutability is implemented so that attempted modification of protected regions results in an access violation. -

MobX is a battle tested library that makes state management simple and scalable by transparently applying functional reactive programming (TFRP). Write minimalistic, boilerplate free code that captures your intent. Trying to update a record field? Use the good old JavaScript assignment. Updating data in an asynchronous process? No special tools are required, the reactivity system will detect all your changes and propagate them out to where they are being used. All changes to and uses of your data are tracked at runtime, building a dependency tree that captures all relations between state and output. This guarantees that computations depending on your state, like React components, run only when strictly needed. There is no need to manually optimize components with error-prone and sub-optimal techniques like memoization and selectors. -
