gPod (GMail-iPod) is a free multimedia player which uses GMail as the datastore. The first iteration is targeted at playing audio files and a two way streaming between GMail and the client interface.

This project contains code to enable the use the gervill software synthesizer on Android. This makes it possible to play midi files using a Soundfont. This is achieved using a modified subset of the GNU Classpath project to create a minimal JavaSound environment for gervill. The gervill synthesizer itself has also been modified to reduce the amount of JavaSound code. The modified gervill code also offers key API improvements, and retains compatibility with desktop java. This project is published in the interest of compliance with the GPL, but any interested party should be aware it inherits a great number of undiagnosed bugs from the parent projects and is only suitable for playing vetted midi files.
